4.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining, 12 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Silent Crossroads (Paperback)
I have bought and enjoyed the author's factual history books so for 99p I decided to give this a try. Slightly to my surprise, I was gripped by this story and couldn't put the book down. I was intrigued to see how he would make so much changing of sides convincing, but he did. I was completely persuaded by Harry and his story. There's a real mix of military and social history, so something there for everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, mostly easy to wipe off, 11 Oct. 2015

You can write on anything with these, and most are easy to wipe off (except the black is quite persistent). Good for black and white boards, but also glass and mirrors.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic read. I love social history and this is ..., 21 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
fantastic read. I love social history and this is hugely readable run down of the factors which shaped the east end of London, from first inhabitants to late 20th century. the author really brings to life how these changes impacted on the lives and work of the people who lived in the area. I've recommended it to several people.

5.0 out of 5 stars great fun! I wouldn't normally buy history books, 21 Nov. 2014
great fun! I wouldn't normally buy history books, but I follow @historygems and like his storytelling style. I am about half way through this and learning a lot, but its a really easy read. because of the time period it covers, it's more a history of Briatin and theforces that shape us today rather than a load of dry information about empire. Well worth a browse

5.0 out of 5 stars A thought provoking but easy to read collection of current thinking on leadership and organisations, 31 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
remarkable collection of thoughts on a wide range of topics. The nature of the shirt blogs means it is easy to dip in and out of. Some blogs will inevitably resonate with the reader more than others, but always thought provoking and interesting. More please!

Particularly pleased that all proceeds go to charity, showing this really is collaboration for the love of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great romp through British history, 29 Oct. 2013
An enjoyable read for people like me who don't do well with serious history. I follow the author on FaceBook and his anecdotal style is in evidence here. Because of the concise style it is easy to put down and pick back up, and even dip in and out of. Fun and informative. Have taken one star off because I would have liked more discussion of some of the social implications of events, but I guess this has been sacrificed for brevity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin, 24 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A surprisingly comprehensive overview of the topic given the 999 word count. Actually, being this succinct but insightful must be much harder than droning on for chapters. I have often thought a lot of business books coukd be condensed into a pamphlet without losing much (but harder to charge seven quid for!). The author achieves that here. Should be a checklist for marketing teams every morning!

1.0 out of 5 stars drop dead disappointing, 4 Dec. 2007
this book should really be 5 pages long - she has only a few tips and insights to share. the author warns against seeming outdated, but her style of writing and her views are like an 80s relic. Anyone with the most basic understanding of personal dress in tghe corporate world will not get anything out of this book. Avoid!
