Pole Pole Up The Rongai - A Personal Account of a Kilimanjaro Trek
Pole Pole Up The Rongai - A Personal Account of a Kilimanjaro Trek
Price: £1.91

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical advice and valuable insight, 18 April 2013
A very engaging book and great value for money. Not only do you get plenty of advice and information about how to prepare and plan for climbing Kilimanjaro (there's even a detailed list of what to pack!), you also get a great insight into the whole experience of actually taking on this not-to-be-underestimated challenge. By the time you get to the last page, you'll have a pretty good idea of whether you're up for the challenge yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great learning aid, 18 Nov. 2011
Bought this for my daughter who's in Year 10 and had a science test looming. She found it extremely helpful in that it summed up things she was unsure about in a way that she could easily follow and remember. Without it I'm certain she would not have done as well as she did in the test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't fault it!, 10 Sept. 2011
This freeview box is the best! Once I'd got all the connections from tv to dvd player to aerial socket etc right it just did everything for me and our little spare tv was up and running in minutes. Great price, great product - no more to say!

Portraits of the Himalayas
Portraits of the Himalayas
by John Lambert
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that will entertain and educate, 1 Oct. 2009
The incidents and accidents of one person's 20-day trek to Everest Base Camp are really brought to life in this book. Through the use of themes (eg 'environment', 'belief' and 'illness') the writer has cleverly linked his experiences and encounters to the many different aspects of the Himalayan region and Nepal. It made me want to go there.

This book will entertain and educate. It has some brilliant photographs too.

The Poems of Catullus
The Poems of Catullus
by Gaius Valerius Catullus
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A translation for the 21st century, 25 Sept. 2009
This review is from: The Poems of Catullus (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading this book of poems. The translator has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make them accessible to the 21st century reader, both in his use of language within the poetry as well is in the thorough notes he has provided to accompany them. I like the way the poems are grouped under headings and the illustrations really do help transport us back to the time when they were written. In my opinion, John Lambert could not have done more to help us appreciate this classical poet.
