I loved this book. William Boyd writes beautifully and the story is gripping and exciting.
I hope he will write another Bond book.

This is a really funny, intelligent and wonderful book. The reader really gets inside the head of the main character and wants to cheer him on through life's set backs and triumphs. A great and quirky cast of Walzer's family and friends too.

This is the best fun to watch. The first two episodes are excellent, the third a bit too slow paced but still great entertainment.

Really hilarious and witty. All sorts of random topics and Howard Jacobson's intelligent take and sometimes surprising, always entertaining comments. Highly recommended.

Wonderful name for a book and an enjoyable read with ever more preposterous storylines where the protaganist meets just about every world leader in modern times (or at least in his hundred year old lifetime) and influences great world events. Ridiculous but quite good fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming and whimsical film, 21 April 2010

This review is from: La Gloire De Mon Pere [DVD] (DVD)
Attractive and atmospheric film set in Provence.
Seen through the eyes of the young Marcel the film shows his family and the adventure of spending the summer exploring the wild hills and being close to nature. He makes friends with Lili a young boy of a similar age. Film is quite idealised and not at all hard hitting but is a charming evocation of a time and place, before the first world war in Provencal France and is quite poignant at times and quite close to the book.
