1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed., 9 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I guess I'm the sole dissenting voice here. The well known songs were as expected, excellent. The others I found very poor. This was listened to once and went to the charity shop. I'll try "Cliff at Christmas" this year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but not what it could have been., 23 Jun. 2014
I found seeing the clips in colour very intersting but have to agree with other reviewers that the colourisation is not as accurate as it should have been and the narration very shallow. If you have good knowledge of the First World War and have seen the clips before this can be an interesting documentary, *but* if your knowledge is not extensive you would do better to look elswhere. If you are going to buy one First War 1 documentary please do not make it this one. The 1964 BBC documentary is still the best there is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent nasty weather protection., 21 Sept. 2013
It's comfortable, it's warm, and it is very water resistant. I don't know whether it would pass W.L. Gores' tests for "waterproof" but I don't think it would be far off. I think the sizing is large, if you don't plan on much layering a size down might be an idea. In the winter of '11-'12 I only wore a shirt underneath and was toasty. Last winter I hardly wore it as it was usually too warm. Pulling the hood up makes a real difference. Don't let anybody tell you it can be washed, if you do, you will ruin it. They aren't kidding when they say "Dry clean only". I think people who feel it isn't warm may not have the genuine Alpha Industries parka. This was developed for US Airforce crewmen working in arctic conditions. As part of a working uniform the "handwarmer" pockets aren't: plan on wearing gloves or pulling your hands up into the sleeves.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best History of 1st July 1916., 16 July 2005
A superbly written tribute to the men who were there with just enough technical detail to paint the background without overwhelming the human story.
