5.0 out of 5 stars Cut ! oh God no !, stop crying its still good !, 2 May 2007
Cannibal holocaust is undoubtedly the best of the cannibal horror genre it has all the gore, rape, gang rape, animal killing, foetus removing, real execution footage and more we have come to expect from the cannibal genre. But underneath it all, still has a pretty good story and moral to tell.

The film is split into two half's, the first of DR Munroe a professor from New York travelling to the Amazon rainforest to find out what happened to a young group of documenters on the expedition to discover the truth behind cannibals. Before the second half there is a brief film by the young documenters shown called the Last road out of Hell, which features real execution footage and death so you have been warned.

The second half of the film is much more violent than the first as it shows what happened to the documenters Faye, Jack, Mark and Alan which they inevitable brought upon themselves. I really liked the social commentary on the media and the news and how far humanity (or rather the lack of it) is willing to go for a story.

The film is cut but all key sequences are still in tact just shortened. Although a few animal killings have been removed (monkey etc) still shows some animal killing (musk rat, turtle etc) that have been cut, but animal lovers you have been warned. Most of the rape scenes have been shortened, especially towards the end of the film. About 5 minutes altogether removed

I really enjoyed the story altogether above your average horror movie, although its not specifically horror, surprisingly has not dated to bad although dubbing is off. Lives up to the reputation unlike other so-called video nasties that come off mostly comical. Much better music than the others in the genre, which have that horrible 80s synthesised score. Don't bother with Ferox or any of the other cannibal movies other than as rentals. As they are all average and less inventive or professional as well as being horrendously cut (Ferox suffers the most)

This is where to start with disturbing, ultra violent horror (with structure and substance)

Buy or rent if you are easily offended and Enjoy !

Ichi the killer, dead or alive (2001), island of death, Henry portrait of a serial killer, Audition, Devil's Rejects, American Psycho, castle freak, the exorcist, evil dead are all good movies to check out = )

5.0 out of 5 stars Dosn't get much Darker, 4 Sept. 2006
This review is from: The Darkest Red (Audio CD)
Wow i was impressed final a Band which lives up to the hype.

The darkest red is metalcore at its best.

The Good

Theres some realy great songs on it , the drumming is brilliant ,as is the singing/screaming , guitars a realy good and brutal yet melodic at the same time (no solo's though but that is a good thing as it would not work with the brutality and lyrics , like say a band like trivium (who are also great))

the thing i realy loved is how good the lyrics are on the darkest red.

The Not So Good

Some of the songs are not even on the same class as each other like the darkest red and other songs are pure genious and life changingly good. where as offers like sacrifice and suffer a good but thats all. so the cd fluctuates between god like and average in instances.

the songs that are good put it up to a 4.5 stars out of 5

i cant realy say its for fans of trivium because its not as light as them or guitar focused or for slipknot fans as its not that heavy .

its metalcore of its own brutal and brilliant

3.0 out of 5 stars dissapointed, 4 Sept. 2006
This review is from: The Caitiff Choir (Audio CD)
i had great hopes for IDT (it dies today) reading the reviews i bought it with The agony scene's 'the darkest red' and All that remains 'the fall of ideals' which are fastly supirior.

The caitiff choir has some very good songs but that right there is the problem not many. true there are great metalcore riffs and screaming vocal and melodic chorous everything you expect with metalcore but it comes of very emoish in places which realy ruins in it for me .

the lyrics where also a problem to me as i just didnt like them couldnt relate to them. some people will love it but for me its very average metalcore.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Do You Get If Black metal and Mainstream Rock Collide ?, 30 May 2006
This review is from: Now, Diabolical (Audio CD)
You get Now Diabolical the best cd of 2006 ( so far any way ). Its dark , brutal and strangly catchy. I would recomended to any black metal fan and any heavy metal fans as it black but not as fast as there other stuff so appels to more people if it had different vocals could be taken for gothic rock music. Technicly its an amazing cd the drumming is out of this world and its so pricice with the guitarwork and vocals you could set your watch to it. highlight songs include K.I.N.G , New Eneamy , The Darkness Shall Be Eternal and To The Mountains by know you wont regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cold and Dark yes Evil No, 29 May 2006
This review is from: Transilvanian Hunger (Audio CD)
Yeah just finished listning to it, quite impressed fast dark norwiegn black metal but melodic and beutifull as well as feeling detached and cold intresting to listen to. The production is ghastly it has to be said but you dont notice it unless you listen to something with great production before and if you listen to it through headphones you cant tell at all. I thought it would be evil sounding like Emperor but it is not, still black metal but a lot more melody than you would think.also the Norweign singing makes no differance at all its like its English as you still rember lines as you would with anything in black metal. The guitar riffs have an epic sound to them which plays constently through the song making the cd sound epic black metal fans will rejoice with this piece of black metal history by now for something different in the genre

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Black Metal Evil, 29 May 2006
Where to start with this,to some up its epic, dark, and evil (emphisis on evil i have heard nothing more evil in black metal)

Isham is a genius the songs are great this is realy where black metal started and with such classics as INTO THE INFINTE OF THOUGHTS and I AM THE BLACK WIZARDS.the guitar work is very fast the vocals are good though my one complaint to the cd is the vocals just are not loud enough but the backing vocals with that erie dark effect on infinte of thoughts sound fantastic. i would recomend this to any black metal fan but it is the fastest think in the genre in my opinion comparing to bands suchas DARKTHRONE ,BATHORY ,MAYHEM and not strictly black more death metal bands , CANNIBAL CORPSE and DEICIDE. if you want a slice of dark bleek and cold music and ultimatly thought provoking this is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars usefull for facts and figures but not user friendly, 14 Sept. 2002
I studied AS history and found this book very usefull for evaluating the econmoic progress of the soviet union from 1928 to 41. this book provides essential facts and figures on the five year plans and the collectivisation campaigns. however this book is not uses friendly and is far to long winded for an AS text book, The format is very basic and tedious, I say this as there are no sourcses tables or pictures. This compared to over text books witch are more conscice and user freindly, which WAS A GREAT HELP WHEN IT CAME TO REVISION!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST BY FOR ANY ONE WITH A INTEREST IN RUSSIAN, 10 May 2002
I studied russian at GCSe level and never before have I found such a detailed simple explanation of the complexsitys of russia grammar(an area which i personally found challenging. This book breaks challenging grammar into simple understandable formats. It also provdes brilliant vocabullary base. As I study AS (advanced subsiduary) history on the russian revolution and the soviet union from 1905-1941 it has been possible (with help) to read russia/ soviet properganda material. I could have opted to study AS russian (but declined as I hated grammar). yet with this book my grammar and spelling in russian has improved imencley. I do not however regreat percuing russian past GCSE level(in a formal context). I am able in history to translate words which have been adapted in the context of the revolution.
To conclude anyone with a interest in russian -BY THIS BOOK NOW- YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!
