The story of the survival of those ejected from the Bounty with Captain Bligh is an interesting read on it's own, and it's useful to have some information on the fate of those who sailed off with Fletcher Christian. But, both those tales take up half the book, with the remainder filled with information on the fauna and flora of the regions sailed through, which I have no interest in. Still an interesting read of an epic tale of survival, which shows that the Bligh and Christian portrayed on the silver screen may not be true (who would ever guess that movies aren't always accurate!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Wot no streaming for hd8?, 23 Feb. 2017

As others have found, cant stream anything on the fire 8Hd, but seriously, one of the latest devices isnt supported, at all for streaming?!? They've also removed the ability to set the guide to show a different time, so if you want to view the guide for tomorrow at a later/earlier time, you can change the date ok, but not the time. So you have to keep clicking the arrows.

2.0 out of 5 stars Attachments aren't to be relied upon., 10 Dec. 2015

Received the delivery the other week and have been using this since then on my daily commute to work on the train. Very useful, easy to lug around, compact but roomy, and kept todays downpour out. All was happy, until today when one of the straps broke (the metallic attachment came apart leaving it unsecure). Will be returning for a refund. Pity as was a nice little piece of kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good, 25 Sept. 2014
Ordered this as not gullible enough to pay out through the nose for the 'official' headsets which are, as per usual, way over priced. I was surprised by the build quality which is very good. Fits comfortably, and although at first look I thought the ear pieces would be too small, they fit very nicely over normal sized ears. The sound is loud enough (you must remember to max the sound on the ps4 audio settings and set it to headset beforehand) but if you're looking to have audio loud enough to have your ears bleed then these aren't for you. The bass is very good as well which might have you wearing these all the time you're playing for the all round sound quality.

Well it would be a good idea to provide some instructions on how to use this. As it stands this is no use whatsoever.

One of the most basic rules is that you should be able to move a sequence of cards in one go onto another card, but this is not possible unless there is room in the spare card area. Makes playing the game pointless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too easy, 26 Nov. 2009
There was a lot of expectation in the run-up to the launch of this game, but unfortunately this game just doesnt live up to its promise.

The missions are much better (although easy to complete) having a wider variety of type and its up to you (mostly, apart from the expected end-game scenarios) to choose how to complete them. The fight sequences have also had a make-over with two blades now being available for the silent kills, with more weapons available. This doesnt really make much difference as there isnt much between the fighting styles of the weapons, with the notable exception of the long-handled weapons.

The visuals are what you would expect from AC games, and it is definitely one of the most attractive games you'll see.

There is an added economic aspect to this game, but again this fails miserably to add anything. You would hope that it would be a challenge to earn money to buy upgrades/items, but it is too simple to earn bundles of cash that it makes this part of the game pointless.

But, the main problem with this second instalment, as with the first, is that its way too easy to complete. You would expect that the makers would've learnt from the first game and added more of a challenge, but alas no. The missions can be completed with ease, and the main end-of-sections fights are laughably simple to accomplish. The dificulties are in solving the puzzles and gaining all achievements, which considering this is supposedly an action game, is unforgivable.

How magazines and reviewers can give this 9 or 10 out of 10 is a mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure adrenalin fueled fun, 17 Oct. 2009
I've seen quite a few reviews from people who have been slagging off the handling of the cars, for various reasons. Only thing i can say about that is, did you expect the cars to go round the tracks as if they are on rails???

I tried the demo on xbox live and loved the whole experience, albeit a short one. Bought the full game and have been even more impressed with it. The sound is great, although the pit-crew guy gets a bit annoying at times as he talks to you in-car. The visuals really add to this game, especially when you hit something at speed and the whole screen goes grey, shaking madly, leaving you unable to do anything of substance until you are no longer disorientated. A nice touch is having to move your head slightly in-car to fully view the rear-view mirror.

The only way to view this game, when racing, is with the in-car view, anything else dilutes the experience imo; just a pity the makers included the out of car views as i can guess that a lot of users will use these instead and miss out.

A word for the AI; definitely the most realistic AI opponents i've raced against. Its refreshing to see computer controlled cars going off the track due to their own mistakes/accidents when racing each other.

You can pick this up and have a race or two and have fun, but you can also get further into it and try to achieve all the star awards, which is a real challenge, but worth it when you conquer a particular track, opponent, or race. You dont need to get involved in any tuning unless you want to.

There are a good selection of race types (time/lap elimination, head-to-head, standard, time attack, etc) so you wont get bored with a particular type.

Definitely recommended for anyone who wants a challenge on track.
