5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting background to the film industry in the 60's, ..., 4 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Interesting background to the film industry in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I wouldn't disagree with his opinions on the governments of those times, but some of his personal views on the way the country was heading seem a bit dated nearly 20 years down the line.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Rubbish to Riches!, 17 Sept. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A fab book that takes the reader on a journey from the start of an adventure into setting up an NGO! Having done a similar thing in Bosnia it made perfect sense to me and am glad that Elizabeth Gowing came through in the end. Also introduces the reader to the lives of the outsiders in Balkan society, the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians, creating a sympathetic case for their inclusion into mainstream society.

The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History
by Boris Johnson
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.49

5.0 out of 5 stars Churchill would love this!, 17 Sept. 2015

Well written in 'Boris' style, which made this an easy book to read and get to grips with. If you liked Winnie you'll like the book, if you don't this might make you more sympathetic to what he did and to the man himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Reality of Adminstration!, 17 July 2015

An interesting account of the pitfalls and culture of working in a governing capacity in another country. It's to be hoped that his account is used by diplomatic wannabes as a lesson in what actually happens so they can prepare themselves!

This review is from: Seventy-Two Virgins (Paperback)
In another review it was said that Seventy two Virgins was similar to Tom Sharpe's books, I think this is true, but is quietly amusing rather than laugh out loud funny. Gives a very good insiders description of the interior of the places mentioned, and knowledgeable about the people involved and their background. All in all a good read!
