1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor quality. No longevity., 30 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This item had very positive reviews, so I was surprised when it arrived, because it clearly wasn't great quality. Within a week the whistle eroded and came apart, and the colour faded in the same time frame. Didn't make it to the end of the holiday. I really wouldn't recommend it. A waste of resources.

Hmmm. I *really* wanted to love this, I'm a health conscious family cook who enjoys a lot of fruit and vegetables and i'm keen to keep my carbohydrate intake down. However, I over the last four weeks I keep picking this book up in the hope of finding some recipes that might be nice, different, but honestly, I am not inspired. Most of the the recipes you could find on-line, so I don't think there are enough unique contributions to warrant a book in this respect. Nothing much new here. The dinner recipes are the most disappointing - it's either a variation on salad cut ten ways (fine for the summer, but i don't need a book to tell me how to make salad) or dishes that require huge amounts of preparation, for meals that are not simply don't seem to warrant the effort (burnt cauliflower base pizza with no cheese). The pictures of the food are sumptuously shot, but i think, without the colorful crockery and dribbles of oil, would this REALLY make a satisfying meal? In almost all instances the answer is no. Good points - breakfast recipes have some good ideas for children and the desserts do offer some interesting ideas - Avocado cheesecake. There re also some interesting nutritional notes at the beginning of the book. Other than that, I have to say, the book is sold on the back of the sisters looking beautiful and healthy. The food is lacking...

It's lovely, BUT it is not - as the description claims 17 x 13 x 5 cm - that the size of the box! Disappointing to be mislead even if the Soup Dragon is charming and cute - which she is.

This is a great book - a lot of fun and after 20 goes up in deciles to 100 - which is great. Not many early numbers books go beyond 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to stack, clean and store., 19 Feb. 2012
These are great, unlike other products on the market they don't contain lots of grooves or sharp edges, so they are easy to stack, store, clean and feed from. I use them in the fridge, freezer and they pop into a changing bag easily too with no risk of spills. Perfect. Cheap too. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars More like 100 time-consuming canapes ideas, 18 Feb. 2012
This review is from: Top 100 Finger Foods (Hardcover)
I bought this as my 10-month old baby is now less tolerant of being spoon-fed and was looking for ideas for healthy, easy to prepare, finger foods. This title seemed entirely appropriate and I've used a lot of Annabel Karmel's recipes with the first stages of weaning. This book however is very disappointing. First of all, none of these recipes are 'easy' - they include things like wontons, sushi, Chinese dumplings and panco & coconut fried prawns - which take hours to prepare (and let's be honest how many parent's of babies and toddlers are time rich?) Secondly, very few of the recipes can be easily/ effectively frozen - so very few batch cooking ideas here. Furthermore, a lot of it is deep-fried - which is cumbersome and time-consuming, not to mention unhealthy. Given that most children crush, throw and spit out a lot of their first finger foods, these recipes are mostly ridiculous.

This book would be useful if you were planning a party and wanted a whole lot of middle-class aspirational canapés and appetizers. Not helpful for parents looking for 'quick and easy' healthy meals for a baby (as it promises).

On this occasion Annabel's Karmel's book was mostly a waste of money.
