4.0 out of 5 stars Super cute projects!, 13 Sept. 2013
I really like this book. I love Laura's blog ([...] and her last book and this is a fun book containing 35 patterns for animals on the land, sea and air. I find felt really easy to sew with and you can whip up many of these patterns in an hour or two. I particularly love the fact that each project is versatile and can be made as a gift or adapted to make keepsakes such as brooches, key rings and even mobiles. A fun book for felt lovers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant introduction for beginners, 23 July 2013
This is a great craft book to introduce children to knitting (or if you want to refresh your own knitting skills!). The four chapters contain patterns which are fun but also useful and graded according to skill level, so great for working your way through as you learn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to cycling, 23 July 2013
My son really enjoyed this book. I think it makes a great gift for any keen cyclist and covers all the basics, from choosing the right bicycle to buying the right equipment. There are step-by-step instructions for looking after your bike and dealing with mending punctures and pumping up tyres too! My son particularly enjoyed the fun science activities which help understand how gears work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and inspirational, 18 Jun. 2013
I have to admit I'd never tried making my own jewellery before but this book gave me the confidence to do so. The author has written "I don't want this to be another book that you put on your shelf and just take out to look at the pictures from time to time - it's not for that! Use it as a tool to learn new skills, enhance the ones you already have, and inspire you." What a great challenge!
Divided into four sections the projects cover Vintage finds, Charmed, Hardware and Family Treasures. I found the instructions easy to follow and great inspiration for making my own unique pieces of jewellery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hats and more, 30 May 2013
Knitted animal hats is a really fun craft book containing 35 wild and wonderful hats and more for babies, kids, and the young at heart. My toddler and I have enjoyed choosing some projects to make from this book and I can't wait to get started. It's not just the recent cold weather but I think my children would love to have these hats for playing dress up too! I also liked the fact that the book contains a couple of smaller projects, such as matching bootees or wrist and ankle warmers too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and inspirational, 23 April 2013
The book includes 16 new quilt designs and the author shares her knowledge and tips in a way which really encourages you to have the confidence to try something new. The book is beautifully photographed and the quilts are truly stunning. I'm a little in awe of them but as well as instructions for each quilt, the book is packed with information and techniques which will help you choose your fabrics and equipment, as well as learn the techniques which will help you see each project through to quilting and binding. I agree that the title is a little misleading but the patterns don't disappoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sew your own stylish bedroom!, 23 April 2013
This is a great book for beginners and the more experienced sewer, covering a range of projects, materials and techniques making for a very stylish bedroom! As you would expect from Cico Books it is beautifully illustrated and each of the 30 projects has clear written instructions along with illustrations and photographs. The projects are great because there's a mixture of items for adults and children which are suited to warm and colder seasons. It's great to see a book with new projects and I love the mixture of bedwear and accessories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Personalise your home!, 18 Mar. 2013
Hand Knit Your home is a really interesting book, presenting a fresh perspective on decorating your home. The book is divided into three chapters and colour schemes - hot ideas, cool collection and pale palette. The projects are really inspired, ranging from a small flower vase cosy to a large floor pillow, from a table runner to a curtain tie. The projects are practical and functional but also fun and really enable you to put your own stamp on your home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed full of inspiration, 12 Mar. 2013
Packed full of lovely inspiring projects for the home, children and gifts, the 35 projects in this book are really lovely. From traditional Hungarian embroidery on the make-up bag, to the appliqued round pillow inspired by traditional Uzbekistan textiles, or a hand-tied quilt inspired by vintage Indian saris, the projects are varied and fun. I look forward to trying out the projects in this book and learning some new stitches! The book includes stitching guides and templates for each project as well as an illustrated guide to the different stitches used.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bring your socks to life, 14 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Sock Puppet Madness (Paperback)
Sock Puppet Madness features 35 of the most fun, outlandish, off-the-wall and enchanting characters on the planet. By following the simple step-by-step instructions, you'll be able to put together your own puppet in no time. The book is laid out really well which makes it easy to follow each pattern. Templates are included at the back of the book but need to be copied at 200% although you can also copy them freehand to make your puppet unique.
The sock puppets don't require any sewing which means anyone can make them! They are simple to create, using just a few readily available materials, from felt to cardboard, buttons and marker pens - plus everyone has an old sock they can use. Fun for all ages and abilities.
