5.0 out of 5 stars Goddess Genius, 23 Sept. 2014
This review is from: Illuminations (Audio CD)
i first heard this album back in 1970 - in a somewhat elevated state of mind - i have never recovered - it remains as potent and thrilling and moving and generally fabulous as ever - i am now 63 years old.......and yes a lot of people will hate it - but they're wrong. her voice is still the voice of the Goddess - whether she screams or whispers

Two Flutes Playing: Spiritual Journey for Gay Men
Two Flutes Playing: Spiritual Journey for Gay Men
by Andrew Ramer
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is a sacred text for gay men, 27 Feb. 2001
Andrew Ramer is a 'channeler'. Strictly speaking he didn't write this book. He took dictation from his spirit guides - gay men who lived thousands of years ago - shamen and healers. This is their book. This is their story and their vision of how things could be if gay men were to begin to live out their true spiritual roles - as consciousness scouts, healers, flute players and hunters. If they began to move beyond the cycles of addiction and self hatred and destructive behaviour so many of us are locked into and began to use their unique energies to serve the planet and the rest of humanity. They describe a world of ice when men moved in nomadic tribes and life was harsh, but when everyone felt a strong connection to the spirit realms, when death was seen as just another transition, and life had purpose and integrity. And gay men were a valued part of the fabric of society, not a despised minority who should think themselves lucky to be tolerated. There are many practical healing exercises explained, some solo, some to perform with a partner, valuable even if your belief system doesn't extend to shamanic ice age spirit guides and, if you prefer, the stories can be treated as inspirational mythology. All I know for certain is that if enough gay men read this book and started acting on its ideas we could transform the world.

The Aquatic Ape Hypothesis: Most Credible Theory of Human Evolution
The Aquatic Ape Hypothesis: Most Credible Theory of Human Evolution

5.0 out of 5 stars this book ought to be on the syllabus in every school, 24 Feb. 2001
Elaine Morgan presents in a highly readable form, a convincing collection of evidence showing that human beings went through a semi-aquatic phase in the course of our evolution and that this is what made us so different to other primates. For some reason I am unable to understand, the scientific establishment still rejects this hypothesis. The original idea, which I first heard about in 1972 at university, when studying biology, was that of Alistair Hardy, but he never attempted to publicise it, possibly for fear of damaging his reputation. Ms Morgan clearly has no such fears not being a professional scientist, and I trust her all the more for that. The evidence she presents - such as our relative hairlessness, our subcutaneous fat distribution and our 'diving reflex' - are simple observable facts for which no other explanation has yet been offered. I should be delighted to enter into correspondence with anyone who can explain to me what is so 'unscientific' about the aquatic ape hypothesis, or indeed with the author or any of her fans. I believe that this theory provides a poetic key to increasing our sense of connection to this poor battered planet, especially with the oceans which we treat so carelessly still. READ THIS BOOK!
