4.0 out of 5 stars Really like it but what's the rush?, 30 Mar. 2013

I wonder if anyone actually read this book before they sent it to print? There are quite a few grammatical errors and omissions in the introductory chapters. Perhaps they were in a rush to have it available before the TV program begins on April 2nd? I haven't read all of the actual pattern instructions, but I am hopeful they will have edited these more carefully.
The book does not give away any details or information about the contestants or how they went, which is a good thing really. The photographs in the book are lovely and the illustrations for step-by-step are in colour and are quite useful, if somewhat sparse.
There are 28 projects in this book, and 20 of them have patterns that you can download. The projects are both modern and traditional and really just what a beginner to intermediate sewer might like to make these days.
The instructions are basic but a total beginner should be able to make a few things, and if you have sewn at least 2 patterned garments before, then you will be okay with this. The first half is on technique and skills so it will definitely be a useful book in a beginner's collection.
I am really excited about watching the TV show, and would highly recommend this book.
The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because of the writing errors that could have been picked up by a quick read through.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, 13 April 2012

Such beautiful music: pretty, happy, light, tender, stirring. The music makes me think of Spring. Such a lovely collection of instruments that swell and voices that gently rise and fall. Hope this band enjoy lots of success, sounds like they're really trying to find something new for us to listen to.

Saw this in a gift shop in Iona, but didn't get it. Still thinking about it once I got home from holiday and decided to check Amazon.
Beautiful illustrations! Each page has a new picture to captivate you as you flick it open to pop in your appointments. The page layout is different on each page, some have all 7 days on one side, the next week it's 3 on one side, 4 days on the other, which is a bit annoying for a diary that you actually want to use quickly (I got the pocket one so I can use it quickly and briefly). But I do like it, the illustrations are worth the unpredictable layout.

Saw this as a TV movie, and decided to read her biography - a great decision. Felt like you really got to know her, as though you're reading the lifestory of a good friend you used to know from hight school.
Well written and easy to read.
