Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster
Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster

3.0 out of 5 stars well written, but biased and self absorbed, 7 Jan. 2011
Yes, its a cracking read, but Krakauer, whilst a good writer, can get very self absorbed (there's a huge "look at me" section in Into the Wild which almost ruined an otherwise excellent book) and I think this is reflected in his unapologetically one sided view.
I would strongly recommend reading The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev (who Krakauer slates mercilessly) to get a somewhat different version of the same events.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great album ruined, 22 Nov. 2009
Pornography is a great album by a fine band.
Unfortunately, if you listen on anything that passes for a decent system, the re-mastered version is painfully bad. Whoever was responsible for the sound quality must be deaf - such a shame.
Probably OK on a portable/car/budget system, but real hi-fi fans should get the original.
