1.0 out of 5 stars Shoot the cameraman, 17 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is my 50th blu-ray concert disc and it's not something to be celebrated. Visually none of it is ever going to be used as a demo disc but there is one camera which is seriously out of focus throughout the concert. Unfortunately it is the one covering centre stage mid shots (head to waist) so cannot be avoided by the editor. It's not just slightly out of focus occasionally, it is absolutely dreadful consistently from beginning to end and it is only too obvious even from 25 feet away from a 60" screen.

The sound isn't exactly demonstration quality either but acceptable. The video however most definitely isn't. Eagle Rock need to raise their game or they will be in danger of losing the reputation gained at Montreux, this is the second Eagle Rock blu disc I've received this week which has glaring technical faults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blu-ray definitely all regions, 29 Dec. 2009
I don't know why Amazon and one reviewer here should say this disc is a Region A issue, the sleeve actually says it is 'All Regions'. I delayed purchase for a long time because of the doubt and wish I hadn't; the BD sound and video quality is among the very best.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good entertaining show, 16 Mar. 2009

This is my first Barry Manilow 'video', CD only up until now, so I didn't know exactly what to expect, but it was definitely good entertainment, even quite funny in places.

The blu-ray video quality ranges from good to excellent with just a handful or so of shots towards the end of the concert marred by the rear of stage lights shining into the camera lens accompanied by brief spells of dodgy focussing - perhaps the cameraman was blinded too!

The DTS Master Audio is 4.0 only, the centre channel and sub-woofer remained stubbornly mute. On systems dependent on the sub-woofer it may possibly sound a bit lightweight but on my full range speakers I was not aware that the audio was missing a channel or two and it sounded very good. There is a Dolby 4.0 track too but I've not listened to it.

If you are a fan you will be buying this disc anyway but if you are sitting on the fence I'd say jump in, it's two hours of fun and smiles and familiar songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, 14 Mar. 2009
As has already been said, this disc is technically excellent and its 1997 date is of no relevance at all. You can play the audio very loud and it's impressive or quieter as a relaxing listen.

Contrary to my expectation from reviews elsewhere Clapton doesn't just make a guest appearance for Layla, he is on stage playing throughout.

Another fabulous music blu to play over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reference standard, 14 Mar. 2009

This is a superb disc with excellent camerawork, devoid of that bugbear of concert recordings, the unsteady shot which struggles to find focus. The lighting is good with impressively deep blacks indistinguishable from my plasma's black bezel.

The Dolby TrueHD audio is if anything even better and possibly the best of all my 30 plus concert blu-rays. It is loud and clear and severely and continuously punished my speakers which were literally hot at the end of the 109 minutes.

I didn't think I was a big Police fan before viewing this disc but found I knew most of the songs and this will be a disc to return to often especially when there are friends around who need to be impressed!
