4.0 out of 5 stars Somebody give these guys a bigger budget, 4 April 2007
Cheap B-Movie plotline makes for a surprisingly fun experience in EDF 2017.

You command an awkward looking grunt in this game and are up against an invading army of aliens such as huge, really huge, spiders, ants, robots and UFOs.

The game isnt particularly great looking but the aliens are rather well modelled and the city environments are good enough that you dont really have time to notice the cheap textures every here and there. Some of the environmental effects are actually impressive, like on the level where you are by the beach blasting incoming invading robots with a beautiful sunset in the background.

The game is quite long with 53 levels and 150 different weapons and surprisingly doesnt get boring too fast despite the repetitiveness of the action.

The dialogue between yourself and the other EDF soldiers is absolutely hilarious, the game might just be worth getting to listen to their ridiculous conversations.

All in all, a game definitely worth getting despite its low budget presentation value as it packs in a great amount of fun as you blast yourself past the seamingly unending waves of insect and robot aliens.
