Sinatra: Best Of The Best
Sinatra: Best Of The Best

5.0 out of 5 stars The Spannig of the Years, 17 Feb. 2012
I liked this album. It runs through the hits of Sinatra spanning the years. Fron the early hits such as 'Come fly with me' to the egostistical My Way, this collection has them all. I do of course realise that purists Sinatra fans might attack songs such as My Way as not the man at his best, personally I disagree with such an approach and as a red blooded egotist My Way is a great song. Notwithstanding this album has much more, with such hits as Night and Day, to the haunting melody of One for my Baby. If you like popular music with great lyrics this collection is for you, you will I bet find yourself singing along to New York New York or sighing at Something Stupid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not all respectable, 6 Jan. 2012
This book highlights the demonetization of ordinary people and why this has happened. It is very well written and takes a candid view of life for working class people. It yearns for the time when to be working class meant a pride in your skill and strength by mass trade union membership. There alas are now few members of the respectable working class left but we are not entirely eradicated yet

5.0 out of 5 stars Common sense in economics, 6 Jan. 2012
This book is a welcome challenge to the monetary polices of the free market. Keynes was a master on economics, all should read this book to gain an insight as to what has gone wrong with the greed principle so beloved by the right

This is a well written book by a respected and influential historian and commentator on Irish affairs. Notwithstanding it shows its vintage. It urgent requires and epilogue and that will bring a new freshness to a very good piece of writing

5.0 out of 5 stars Who is viewing you, 14 Jan. 2011
Survelliance State will shock many people. We do not know just how much we are observed. We seem to accept CCTV as a crime prevention measure as opposed to real policemen. Moreover our telephone and emails can be listened to or read without much trouble. We should be more vigilant of our privacy

Criminality and Economic Condition
Criminality and Economic Condition
by Willem Adriaan Bonger
Edition: Paperback
Price: £24.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Crime as effected by economics, 14 Jan. 2011
Although written a long time ago the book has a comtemporary feel. Times might well change but patterns of criminality remain the same. It is still the poor who make up the most numerous criminal element in society. The internet has brought forward new idems of crime but the purpetrators remain similar in background

5.0 out of 5 stars ORWELL COMPLETE, 3 Sept. 2010
The complete works of Orwell brings together some of his most important works under one cover. This is a triumph for his fans, notwithstanding it is a neat way of introducing younger readers to this most intelligent of English writers. No education is complete without reading a least one book by Orwell

5.0 out of 5 stars Orwell in Spain, 8 Jan. 2010
This is a truly wonderful book about a war that seems almost totally forgotten now. Yet this war saw men from all over Europe and the United States fight the threat of fascism. Orwell brilliantly conveys the mood in Barcelona where he found that tipping was outlawed. He desribes in vivid detail the agonies of war made worse by internicine fighting within the left that along with the embargoes of the so-called Democratic States, UK France etc allowed fascism to win. More importantly for the Spanish people it prevailed long after Hitler had departed.
Anyone who has a sense of history must read this evocative account of a bitter struggle for the hearts and minds of men, who no doubt on both sides felt they were right.
