3.0 out of 5 stars The first hand account of the battle, 12 Sept. 2006
In 1847 it was decided to do a diorama of the battle, and Major-General Sitborne contacted various survivors to find out what had happened.

While there is now somedispute as to how accurate this interpretation is, these letter became the basis of the accounts of the battle.

In total 180 letters are published, which covers the main details of the battle, the rest are available in the British Library.

Waterloo is the first battle to be fought whee the participants, down to private level, where articulate and literate.

It is worth reading for the details of the battle first hand.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but disapointing, 22 Aug. 2006
It now appears Helen Hannah didn't die in the previous film but has been saved for a mega trial.

Coren Berenson is the prosecution. I can't help but feel this was a bit of type casting, given his LA Law connection, but it is still worth watching.

The disapointing appearance is by Mr T, a good actor but wated in this role.

The cours scene is imressive and is enjoyable, but there is nothing outstanding about the film like the other 2. Well, there i one surprise, but I won't tell you what it is in advance.

Worth watching as its part of the films, but not a great film.

Confusion arrises, as it is called O.N.E. in the UK, and judgement here.

5.0 out of 5 stars It keeps getting better, 22 Aug. 2006
The story continues, pretty well from where it left off in Revelation, but with an interesting twist.

Leigh Lewis is back as Helen Hannah; Nick Mancusco is back as Nick Macalusso, and now the cast is expanded, with 2 international actors.

Gary Busey is probably most well know as psychotic mad men, as in Under Siege, but when he became a Christian, that all changed. Here in this film he is a policeman who didn't die in a car rash, and wakes up to find himself in the Tribulation Period.

Margot Kidder appears, not quite as a cameo appearance, but she is only in for about 10 minutes at the start of the film.

Macaluso is up to his old tricks and wants to use the Day ofWonders again to destroy the Earth. In case you missed it, e is the anti-Christ and is usng it to turn people away from God.

Helen Hannah is once again leading the opposition to him,and using TV to spread the truth. A one point, she is captured and appears to be eecuted for her faith.

Busey spends most of the film trying to find out what has happened to his family. Why he never stops to ask hat has happened but goes on happily looking is never quite explained.

How he find his family, with a lovely surprise ending, is again part of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars What happens after millions go missing?, 22 Aug. 2006
This review is from: Revelation [DVD] (DVD)
OK, this is a blatant Christian fim, there is no subtlety, nor should there be any.

The starting premise is that in the first film, which I haven't seen, millions of people go missing in a second. This is know as the Rapture, when Christ comes back for his true churchand takes them to be with Him. Out of this film for certain comes Helen Hannah, a newspaper reporter, I think.

That is the background to this film, originally called Apacolypse 2, now Revelation. Now the story starts to heat up, if you will excuse a terrible pun.

The world has found its Messiah, Nick Maccaluso, played Nick Mancusso. He has stepped forward to take contro of the Earth in the chaos of the disapearances,. Opposing him is Helen Hannah.

Along the ay she has picked up other people who were left behind and have now become Christians, called Haters by Macaluso and co.

Jeff Fahey is a policeman called in to investigate a series of terrorist bombings, supposedly set off by the Haters.

Along the way, he survives being killed by members of the One Nation Earth polceforce, O.N.E. for short.

How he meets up with the opposition, lead by Helen, is part of the the story. The model Caroline Alt plays a blind lady, very convincingly, I beieve she spent a month in a blind peoples home for the role.

At the hear of the story is something clled the Day of wonders, which will transform the people of the world. I won't give it away, it's part of the ongoing story, and also comes up in the sequal, Tribulation.

I'll be honest and say that the ending had me wanting to stand up and cheer, its so up beat.

Well worth watching if your a Christian, and a thought provoker if your not.

Lets all sing the tune: da da dadadada, probably the most well know piece of music.

Rumours about of Spielburgh having purchased the rights to the film and remaking it, yet I doubt even he will improve on the original. Rumour also says he will be keeping the music, well

he would have to, wouldn't he.

Where do you start with perfection? OK, the special affects are naff, but for the 50's amazing.

Michael Redgrave as Barnes Wallace captures the feel of a slightly mad proffesor. He really looks like he is crying when the bomb works.

Richard Todd as Guy Gibson is perfect casting, I believe he was Bomber Command during the war.

There are moments of hillarity, there are moment's sadness. But if you want to watch a film where the concept of heroism and patriotism are not bad words, then this is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The last of the great musicals, 13 Aug. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I first read the Little Prince for an English course, and loved the book. OK, it was written in French, and I read ity in English, but thats life.

The author was a French aviator before ther WW2, and I believe some of his exploits may be found in the book. He flew from Paris to India, I know that, and that is the starting point for the book and film.

How do you deine perfection? Lerner and Lowe is a good starting point; a good story; a fine cast of actors and a very good actress; the Prince is wonderful, simple and full of the joy you need to make the story believable; and Bob Fosse doing his own song and dance routine, the snake in the grass.

Its a story for children, i recently watched it again with some friends children, between 7 and 14, and they loved the film.It is also a wonderful comment on our society, but that is for the adult to appreciate.

For me, the 2 best parts of the film are Bob Fosse as the snake, and Gene Wilder as the Fox. Both are very clearly enjoying themselves, and so is the boy.

There is some sadness in the film, as the way that the Prince returns home. But at the same time, there is laughter and happiness, and tunes that will stay in your head for months to come. I'm still singing the Snake in the grass routine after a week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wagner at his best with the best, 12 Aug. 2006
In the history of opera 3 names stand out: Flagstad, Melchior and Lotte Lehman. Here on one recording, is Flagstad and Melchior.

Tristun und Isolde is not normally one of my favourite Wagner operas, but this recording is the exception. The roles could almost have been written for them.

This is Flagstad at the start of her career, in her first Met opera performance. She is vibrant, full of life and and a joy to listen to. I know her singing mostly from the end of her career, in Das Rhinegold, where she was a wonder to listen to, but here is outstanding.

What can anyone say about Melchior? For many years, I only knew of his music by reputation, the greatest Wagnerian tennor, but then I heard his Die Walkieie, also for the Met, and knew his reputation was well founded.

Here in Tristun, his range and talent comes to the fore, and is a pleasure to listen to.

The opera recording itself is light and melodic, while aware of its tragedy, is it still a lighter touch then most modern recordings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good game better sequal, 28 July 2006
This review is from: Pharaoh Gold (PC CD) (Video Game)
Firat came Pharoah, with the chane to create the world of ancient egypt. fun, but lieal, you had to go from point a to point z.

with Cleopatra, the game adds a whole new level to itself: you can pick and choose which eras you want to play! It also adds the fun of building the tombs in t valley of the kings, marginally easier then building a pyramid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Best guide to the Valley, 26 July 2006
The three best books on the market are: John Romer Valley of the Kings, The complete Valley of the Kings, and this one. Each deals with the subject from a different perspective.

As you would expect from an atlas, this is just the plans of the tombs, all of the nes that were available for the ;ast 20 years. It shows how they interconnect, miss each other, and how the tombs developed over time.

It us useful to have the Complete book with you, as there cheap edition is short on major details, just the plan and some descritios of what you see on the plan. aying that, I`m using the plans in a class in CAD and finding them uswful for making the drawings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bountyful adventure, 5 July 2006
I can't add much to the reviews, just a couple of details.

When Laughton came to make the movie, he approached the tailors who made naval uniforms and asked if they had some of the detal of Blighs uniform. They still had it on record and the uniform he wwears in the film is accurate. Sadly the records where lot in the bombin during the war.

Shortly after he made this, not sure of the date, he appears in a film called Abbot and Costello meet Captain Kidd. He plays the captain, and spoofs his role in the Bounty. He also sings, not much, but its funny to list to.
