Price: £6.99

5.0 out of 5 stars One of England's greatest managers!, 23 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very enjoyable and informative autobiography by a man who led the way in football management. Sir Bobby Robson achieved so much as a footballer and manager and could have achieved so much more had he been given the opportunity. Lots of 'if only's' after you have read this book, if only England had kept Sir Bobby as manager after Turin or if he had returned at the time Sven was given the England job. If only Newcastle had not sacked him after he took them from 2nd bottom to several top flight finishes,European adventures and a uefa semi final. Lots of insights in this book - read it for yourself and enjoy as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing lighthearted 'life on Mars' type time travel story, 23 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Really enjoyable read. A bit like life on Mars but in the 1950's, lighthearted and less complex. Loved all the characters in this story and the way in which they were linked to both time periods. Loved the description of life in the 50's and the way in which Rosie adapted to it and her relationship with those around her. Rosie finds herself in 1950 and at first assumes she must be in a reality show. As time goes by and her relationships develops Rosie begins to realise that it couldn't possibly be a reality show and she must somehow be now living in the 1950s.
Absolutely amazing story and loved the way the story concluded. Very well written and thought out by the author and I immediately looked to see what other books she may have written. Not to be missed.

Includes details of all the stadiums hosting the games (geography also) and the group fixtures right through to the final with spaces to record results and group standings. Also includes a section detailing all the previous World Cups since 1991 with results. Very good sections on each participating team including their finishes in previous World Cups. A must for all fans of the Women's World Cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book, 28 Jun. 2015

Really enjoyed this book. Hope has led a truly extraordinary life and it is an inspirational read. She is refreshingly honest and you cannot help but to admire and warm to her. It is a must read for both fans of the women's and men's game. It provides a great insight into the USA women's team and women's football in general. Hope's story is amazing and it is a honour to have been given this insight into her world in this fabulous autobiography. I would strongly recommend reading "Solo"

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and compelling!, 10 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Absolutely brilliant book about the history of women's football at the Dick Kerr's Ladies team that gave so much to the game and to charity. This is a story that simply must be read, not only by those interested in the women's game but all those with any interest in football. The Dick, Kerr's Ladies team were famous in their day, which lasted just short of half a century and were watched by thousands - so much so that the FA banned women's football from being played at the grounds of the league teams as their attendances were more than the men were getting in the top tier of football! Too many people are not aware of this history and are missing out enormously. In this book the author gets to know the history from the surviving team members and old cuttings, photo's etc that were shared with her and it is a most complete and compelling account that brings you close to the players and those in involved over the years. The reunion and their pace in the football hall of fame in Preston is no more than they deserved and an amazing story. Not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great insight into women's football, 24 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent in depth insight into the history of women's football up to 1997 told by a former player from Southamptons glory days. The books covers all aspects of women's football including domestic and international. It is extremely well researched and Sue Lopez's own memories from her footballing days and her involvement in the WFA and later the FA is invaluable. It is an essential read for anyone interested in the roots of both English and international womens football. It details the people and the hard work that went into setting up the running of the women's league and the England team, for which Sue Lopez played. Also a great chapter on women referees and the challenges they face in a male dominated sport. It highlights just how far the women's game has come in such a short time. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. A great read.

Absolutely loved this book. The characters are great and the storyline is very well written. I particularly liked the ghost 'marmaduke' who is very likeable and his 'Englishness' comes across marvellously (it is set in New York). Loved his personality and his relationship with Sophie (main character). A nice romance thrown in too. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss that first phone call from heaven, 17 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The great thing about Mitch Albom is that all of his books are very different from the norm and each book is unique. I really enjoyed this book centered around a select group of people who all receive phone calls from a person who is dead. Are the calls from heaven or is it a very clever hoax? The book explores this brilliantly and the main character only really becomes the 'main character' towards the end. All the individual characters draw you to them. The climax to the story and the characters adaption to events is both enthralling and leaves the reader unable to put the book down.
I found the book very enjoyable.

This review is from: PROMPT Course Manual (Paperback)
An excellent book on medical emergencies in maternity used alongside the PROMPT course. On its own it is a good overview and outlines the importance of teamwork in these situations. Also good for midwives to have as a refresher.
