A very good introduction to the concepts and practise of GIS, 26 Feb. 2001
In a clear and systematic way this book introduces the concepts behind the use of GIS systems. Without reference to any specific software system the book takes the reader through each technique of spatial data modelling in both Raster and Vector GIS. It is not a book for anyone without prior knowledge of the capabilities of GIS systems but it does not presume any technical knowledge of hardware or software. It would be the ideal starting place for anyone with an interest in geographical or spatial modelling who wishes to prepare themself for practical experience with GIS software.
