5.0 out of 5 stars Loleatta Sensation, 5 Aug. 2008
This review is from: Anthology (Audio CD)
Five stars aint enough for this. This is the most glorious music ever made. Loleatta is THE Disco Diva, and some of the tracks on here are not only the greatest disco records ever but the greatest records period. I can't urge you enough to get hold of this 2CD set. Even if you already own her disco smashers (like I did before I got this) it's worth checking out for disc 2 on here which is full of a side to Ms Holloway I'd never came across before. Disc 2 is full of her more deep soul outings, which are brilliant and show that she wasn't a one trick disco pony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invasion of the Sperm Snatchers, 19 Jun. 2008
I love this book, and this Complete collection is the way to experience it. People say it reads like you're watching a movie, and it does. Thats why I recommend reading the whole story from start to finish in one go. Even though the book is divided into chapters, the story really flows non-stop like a movie.

It's a brilliant take on the 'alien invasion of a backwater town' scenario. If only TV shows like 'Invasion' were executed half as good as this. The previous review said it all, this is all about characters, their relationships, and their more often than not questionable actions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than any action movie., 21 May 2008
Garth Ennis presents the Punisher as he is meant to be. This comic, and this volume (Vol.3 Mother Russia) in particular, is very cinematic. It's like watching an action movie, but only better. It contains a wit, heart, and some sensibilities that hollywood action movies rarely posses. And it goes further with the action and violence than any movie could. When you read the interpretations of the Punisher and Nick Fury in this series, they are so hard boiled it's difficult to imagine they exist in the Marvel Universe.

Garth Ennis' knack for putting the Punisher in near impossible situations, then having him pull through in a sometimes more impossible manner, makes for a thrilling read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The (living) death of Captain America... and everyone else., 21 May 2008
This review is from: Marvel Zombies HC (Hardcover)
Love Zombies. Love Marvel. However, before I read this I couldn't see how the two would work together. After reading it I can say they work brilliantly together. This book is equal parts sick and funny, and quite a shocking direction for Marvel. The plot is quite simple, but contains lots of fun/gross scenarios for our decomposing heroes. The artwork is great and perfectly suited to the material. Also printed at the back are all the covers from the individual issues. These are great and all put an undead twist on classic Marvel covers.

Marvel Zombies isn't a very deep experience, but gets five stars for fun. I can't wait to read all the other books, which hopefully will add a little more depth to this macabre version of the Marvel Universe.
