5.0 out of 5 stars First Set was faulty, But Amazon replaced it Immediately, and the 'phones are exceelnt, 22 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First 'phones arrived with a nasty crackle in the right-hand speaker.. Amazon immediately replaced them with another pair, I must say these 'phones are very good indeed for the price! The Bass is excellent, and makes my CD's, LP's, Cassettes sound great! After a teething trouble (Which Amazon sorted immediately it must be said), I am delighted with my purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely re-issue well presented, 3 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Finally, Scott Walker's first 5 solo albums are re-issued as a box-set! The discs come packaged in a sturdy box, card sleeves faithfully re-create the gate-fold sleeves (where applicable. Remastered at Abbey Road, The CD's sound very close to the original Philips LP's in terms of sound quality, and the discs have not fallen victim to the "loudness wars", in other words, the discs are not processed with excessive digital compression/limiting, you can hear the difference from the previous CD issues of the albums.

One small disappointment is that the booklet could have had more photographs, but you can't have everything!

Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, no-nonsense resissue with fine sound, 1 Jun. 2013
This review is from: Scott [VINYL] (Vinyl)
This is a "No-Frills" re-issue of the legendary "Scott" LP. The LP is well pressed, with no unpleasant surface noise from the vinyl. The sound is lovely and clear, and whilst it sounds different to my original 1960's issue of the LP (of course it will sound different, it's a pressing 46 years later!), it's nothing at all to complain about. The sleeve is faithfully reproduced (minus the Phillips logo sadly, but legally there was no choice), and it's good value for the money. I played this LP on my Rega RP-1 Performance Pack Turntable, and it sounds mighty fine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Barry Gray Classic, 3 Jan. 2005
This review is from: Space: 1999 - Year 1 (Audio CD)
This was Barry Gray's last TV series score. The main theme is one of his best, and the incidental music is lush in quality and what's included here sounds even better than the fan club only issue of a few years ago - obviously the mastering has improved on the last time round. One of the best Gerry Anderson TV scores. I hope more Silva Screen releases of Barry Gray's work will follow!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly exceptional !, 4 Nov. 2003
This review is from: Boy Child: 67-70 (Audio CD)
A superb set featuring some of Scott Walker's best self - compositions. Off-beat is perhaps a good way of describing Walker - He certainly is in no danger of appearing in a arena near you on a 20 date tour - however his fans love him all the more for it. His songs cover such subject material as an aeging transvestite, to a man with only the speaking clock to call - as I said, the material is unusual, but far more interesting than a lot of the bland shmaltz that came from singers of that era.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Period Piece / TV Classic !, 4 Nov. 2003
This was the second true "Supermarionation" Anderson ITC / ATV TV series, and all the elements that Gerry Anderson used to create later glories first appear here. I suspect that being a "black and white" series, there will never be a big BBC2 commercial rebirth a la "Thunderbirds" or "Captain Scarlet", however "Fireball XL5" should not be overlooked or forgotten. The stories were a lot of fun in a 1950's childrens space-serial sort of way, and the dated early 60's production values charm rather than detract(!) I first saw the series during the early 1980's ITV re-run, and I have a soft spot for it. Great fun, and the DVD set features newly re-mastered prints, so the series has never looked this good before. The only criticism would be that Carlton have been stingy and there are no extras - a great shame, since there are TV ads, etc known to still exist. No commentaries from any of the crew either. Still, I am grateful to have the opportunity to purchase this boxed set, since the region 1 A & E release is a bit pricey for my pocket(!)

A good collection of silly songs from The Goodies, they have not dated at all well, but that is part of the charm(!)
