I purchased this for my AMD HDZ965FBGMBOX Phenom II X4 965 - 3.4 Ghz AM3 Black Edition CPU, Retail Packaged
processor, which i bought at the same time. The processor is 125watts. The description of the Arctic cooler said it would cool better and quieter than the stock cooler supplied with the chip. Unfortunately, it didnt. The chip ran at 7-8 deg hotter on idle, and at full load the Arctic could not keep the temp of the chip at 62deg, causing it to throttle itself to 800mhz instead of 3.4ghz until it cooled a little, then the speed would go back up. No such trouble with the stock cooler. This kept the chip at 57-59 deg even at full load torture testing with prime95 for hours on end. The plate on the bottom of the heatsink is smaller than the back of the chip, so only covers about 3/4 of the chip. I don't know if this is what caused the problem, but seemed odd as the stock cooler completely covers the chip. Returned the heatsink and am using the stock cooler.
