The World's climate crisis., 3 July 2006
Al Gore's book (recently made into a film/documentary)explains clearly how the world is facing it's biggest crisis since whatever wiped out the dinosaurs did it's business millions of years ago.
It's kind of a colourful geography textbook, full of photos, graphs, and scary statistics showing how close we humans are to destroying ourselves.
The paperback includes a mass of evidence showing that global warming is caused by humans....... a fact most of the world has agreed on for years. (Except the current U.S. administration).
If we do not do something about global warming in the next few years then world's climate will change permanently.
Once either Greenland or Antarctica melt (which according to the book is happening extremely fast) the world's sea levels will rise 20 feet putting many of the earth's costal cities underwater and displacing millions of people.
Al Gore says this is a "planetary emergency" .... a crisis that we can avoid if we act now. It is hard not to believe him. If you're concerned enough to buy the book you'll be ready to march with the hippies once you've read it. ;)
Unfortunately the people who really need to hear the message of the book are Conservative Americans who won't even pick it up because the author's a democrat.
Al Gore repeats often that the World's climate crisis is a moral issue not a political one.
100% of profits from the book and film go towards Global warming awareness.
