Just a quick word. An excellent film, this deals with time travel much better than first contact, and has no siily paradoxes. except of course for the bit where scotty gives that guy tanspararent aluminium. oh well, at least they didn't help someguy on his first warp flight!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, 25 Nov. 2000
Continued directly from the third film, this film has a slow start, but once the action kicks in and the cetacean probe begins its 'attack' on earth, you will love it. Kirk and the crew go back to earth circa 1986 where they have to rescue some hump back whales, to respond to the probe. When they get there, the film becomes packed with great comedy that both trekkies and non-trekkies will understand. Well worth parting with your cash is this film. Put it in your basket now. and when recieved, in the video recorder. Watch and enjoy!

After watching the film first, I then went on to read the book. Will Shatner contributes most of the effort to this text and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is exactly like the film, but even if you've seen it, this is still worth a read. Any Trekkie will love this, and it could just hook newcomers. Go on, take a chance, but this, you will like it

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit of This and that, 25 Nov. 2000
What can I say? The actors get a chance to flaunt there characters a bit here, but this trek film is moved away from action and big special effects, to make room for a story. Not a bad film, but not the best. If you, like me are a trekkie, then of course you will love this film, but if you are new to star trek: the next generation, go for Generations or First contact

5.0 out of 5 stars Come on, read this one, 20 Nov. 2000
What a smashingly entertaining mix of star trek and horror. There is no doubt that this 'Best of both worlds' spin off is one of the better Trek movies. Jonathon Frakes takes the helm to direct this movie and what a brilliant job he has done. From the initial pull back out of the Borg ship, to the maiden flight of the Phoenix, this film is packed with brilliant effects, including great CGI. The Borg are back, with a voice and they are excellently represented by Alice Kridge as the Borg Queen. Put this in yor Shopping basket now! Only one complaint for Paramount, where are the Extras this DVD is crying out for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Read This, 20 Nov. 2000
Im not going to complain about the lack of extras on this disk, because they really do not matter. DVD does this film justice, it looks great, my only complaint is that some of the subtitles are wrong! But everything else is in order. You can not fail to like this film, no matter what genre you are into there is something in it for you. The cast have doen justice of introducing their characters to newcomers, and if you have never watched star trek before, im sure this will get you hooked! Im not going to tell you what the film was like, because when you buy it from Amazon and slip it into your machine, you will not be able to move. It really is that good. Just stop reading and add to your shopping list!

This book contains the trilogy of storys, The ashes of eden, The return, and avenger. All are great, but shatner tends to give kirk just abit too much bookspace. Still, very much worth it.
