5.0 out of 5 stars Best John Barnaby so far, 25 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
All of the series 16 stories have been excellent. Top quality stories, great acting and a nice mix of supporting characters, 100% attention to detail and authenticity. The new sergeant is great; young, enthusiastic, willing to learn and Jones has been promoted to DI just like Troy before him. Wonder what became of Smith? He called in sick one day and that was the last anyone heard of him!

The first two John Barnaby series were a mix of good and bad stories but series 15 and 16 are all good. Especially series 16, seems like there's a fresh approach, a new enthusiastic one and the 100th episode is a credit to the whole MM concept. Solid story, well played out though there could have been more views of Copenhagen, it's a great place!

If Barnaby and Nelson want to team up with other detectives then I for one would love them to work alongside Lewis and Hathaway!!!!! Talk about a dream team.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ends in a Heartbeat, 18 April 2014
One star less because the last series leaves many issues open and if it was already known that the programme would be axed then it could have ended on a positive note. The final episode would have been great as flashbacks from all the series!

I noticed today that the box set "The Rowan Years" now costs only a few pence more than this series 18! I will never understand Amazon's pricing policy but if you haven't yet purchased that box set then snap it up today. I paid around 50 GBP more when it came out and thought that was a bargain price when compared to the individual box sets, today's price is unbelievable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than series 1, 16 April 2014

P. G. Wodehouse would be delighted with both series of Blandings. The adaptations are wonderful and faithful to the stories. Blandings was created to be very silly and satirical and a lot of fun and the TV adaptations bring the books to life so very very well.

I know the books like the back of my hand and love all the characters. The best TV parts: All of them! Superbly cast right down to the supporting acts; Galahad was especially brilliant.

I do hope there will be a third series and maybe more!

Fred and Ginger's first film pairing but they are not the stars, they play supporting roles. The quality of the DVD is excellent, both sound and picture. The story is typical: love, romance, boy meets girl or wrong girl and vice versa, comedy moments and a flying highlight!

The special features are a history of the film and of RKO pictures, recently made and interesting to watch.

Well worth the purchase!

A great film with a superb cast and script. I'm pretty certain it was originally titled "How to steal a diamond" and that in four lessons! Do the good guys win? You'll have to decide who is good and who is bad and who is on the fence!

This film is full of humour with a touch of pathos and shows just how good real, experienced acting can be. Redford with the baby is a gem and the final scenes with Redford walking down the street are absolutely brilliant.

It's a film for all the family, those aged around 10-14 will like it the best. Well worth buying, you will want to see it more than a couple of times.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, 14 Feb. 2014

Absolutely loved this drama from the very first episode. It is a stand alone story told in 6 gripping episodes focusing on a top gynaecologist and his hospital team and the secrets of their pasts. The final episode is brilliant and brings the story to a fully rounded conclusion. There is scope for another series if ITV wishes.

All the period detail was marvellous and the whole production excellent right down to the hospital matron, ward sister and patients and visitors. The background action in the ward/hospital scenes was given as much attention as the main action and this was a highlight of the drama and made it work so much more effectively. Plus the whole use of colour and patterns, very atmospheric and always linked to the story so that more emphasis is placed on where the characters are and on what they are saying/doing. The scenery and costumes are a reflection of the story and sometimes even present a mirror image.

Certainly the number one ITV drama in my book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love New Tricks!, 25 Jan. 2014

I absolutely love all the New Tricks DVD's and am so looking forward to series 11. With series 5 the team are nicely into their stride and solving all sorts of cold cases. Brian and Esther are marvellous, they could teach classes in how to stay married and how to stand by your partner. Gerry and Jack provide the buffers whilst Brian goes off at tangents and Sandra holds it all together.

There's not a bad episode anywhere in New Tricks. If you prefer a series taster then buy "The best of" with 5 episodes chosen as the fans favourites.

Excellent, a quality notebook with firm binding and hardback cover. The cover phrase provoked plenty of laughs and also leads to many interesting conversations when out and about. Well worth the price!
