5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood revisited!!, 15 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I first read Kim when I was about 7 years old and have been fascinated by India and the English involvement for over 300 years. I was recently fortunate enough to be able to travel in India, visiting several of the cities mentioned in the book and having the book to read again has been a joy. As a snapshot of India in Kipling's time it is excellent and it is suprising how much can still be related to modern India. Readers of Kim might also enjoy the book by V S Naipal " India; a million mutinies now"

I bought this as a gift for my wife who read the story in school and subsequently enjoyed the television production. Her own copy was lost so finding this was a good opportunity.

The Gun
The Gun

5.0 out of 5 stars Found it at last!, 10 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Gun (Hardcover)
When the series was televised I watched and recorded every episode. I have been a gun and shooting enthusiast for nearly 60 years and have an extensive collection of relevant books but never managed to get a copy of this one. The service I received from the vendor (Revival Books Ltd) was first class and the book was in near-perfect condition as they promised. I was initially rather confused however by your description of it as a "Board Book" since this would have made it about 9 inches thick!

Seems to be doing what I wanted but difficult to tell whether the boost is effective or not. TV's now working in two rooms but still some drop-out when using some channels.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't do what it said on the tin!, 14 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although the cable fitted at both ends it only seemed able to carry out the charging function via the computer and I couldn't actually access the Garmin programme using it. Cheap enough so I gave it away as a charging lead.

The mat sits securely on the dash(Ford Focus) and so far hasn't shown any signs of slipping. The satnav mounting bracket(suction base type) does need to be very positively attached however or it can let go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clutter now tidied., 14 Mar. 2013

Cables fit well, reception OK so far and much better for down-facing sockets. The cables provided with my TV, recorder and Sky digibox were stupidly thick and stiff which meant that they tended to pull out if anything was moved slightly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for Hobbits!, 14 Mar. 2013

The cable was different from the one shown on the website and was much shorter meaning I had to grovel under my desk to use it. It connected OK and my satnav is now registered but I have not yet used the upgrade facility because of the price Garmin demands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Show me the way to go home!, 27 Nov. 2011
So far there have been no problems with the device apart from very occasional brief loss of satellite. Mapping is good, voice is acceptable and recalculation is quick and accurate but lane indication is a little difficult to pick up on in a panic!

My main criticism is the content of the kit. It includes a user-manual which almost instantly refers to " the micro USB lead " , thereby prompting two questions; which lead, and where is it? Reading the enclosed accessory list reveals that this is an optional extra but it is obvious that to register your sat-nav or to download the "free mapping up-date within 60 days of first aquiring satellites" this lead is essential. I see this as a slightly shabby bit of marketing by Garmin --- no criticism of Amazon who supply an appropriate lead at at sensible price
