5.0 out of 5 stars Loving LOVEJOY, 17 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was the series where I really got to know and admire IAN MCSHANE. The lovable rogue character "LOVEJOY" - lives around the enticing world of antiques - and he quickly drags you into his world and the ways of his art. The series does change some of the secondary charaters from season to season and this is a bit off-putting. When I bought the set I had no idea that the series went to season seven - I have only seen series 1 and 2 and both are enjoyable.

Buy this series if you like quick witted, fast moving story lines - with a little bit of rough and tumble. Very well presented box set.

Hill Street Blues - Series 1 [DVD]
Hill Street Blues - Series 1 [DVD]
Dvd ~ Daniel J. Travanti

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST cop shows of all time, 27 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This show BROKE the mold on how cop shows should be done - almost EVERY other cop/detective show that followed HSB copied their ground break format.

My kids are in their early 20's and they got hooked on this show from the first disc, so age is no barrier to enjoying HSB.

There is only one down side - this was a five series show and the damn studio has only released boxes one and two so far.

Regardless of this . . . DO NOT miss out on this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars More complex story line than first thought, 27 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This series is a few years old now - but it has a much more complex story line than the box summary would suggest. So in short - there is more to this than first meets the eye.

A group of youths - fighting to survive on a hostile planet - working to be the KING as only this person can assend to the stars . . . but what awaits them there is the crux of the story.

This box is great value.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Early Anime, 3 Dec. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It just missed out on FOUR stars - because it does not have the original English dubbing from the 1960s. I was SOOOOO looking forward to hearing it again ESPECIALLY one of the songs the female lead sings .. sigh .. so sad.

That aside, this film is a wonderful pre-cursor for some of the great classic films and characters that followed it. The quality of the artistry is evident in the fine detail of the film.

If you like classic old films and don't mind the sub-titles .. you will enjoy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nuevo Tango at it's best, 3 Dec. 2009

If you like Nuevo Tango - or if you just want to hear what modern Tango is up to .. get this disc.

you cannot call yourself a Tango person without this disc - unless of course you are one of those old "frumps" who only like classical Tango ... so sad.

Do not pass this up - it is a gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Claymore - cutting edge Anime, 3 Dec. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

Many Anime series tend to end poorly - but not so here. The story just keeps going right to the end .. and a good set up for the sequel which wil hopefully follow.

It is a great little series - with only 6 discs, it offers good viewing in short order.

Tall thin beautiful blondes hacking demons to pieces with big swords and super powers .. what else do you need, except maybe a curry and some larger.

Blake's 7 - Series 3 [DVD] [1980]
Blake's 7 - Series 3 [DVD] [1980]

4.0 out of 5 stars Blake's Back, 3 Dec. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I always wondered why they called this series "Blake's" 7 .. It's just that whenever "Avon" (Paul Darrow) is on the screen, the rest of the cast tend to pale.

I always thought the first series was not too polished, by the time Series 2 came along, things were rolling a lot better.

I really think "Blake's 7" is for those of us ... who were there at the time. But - if you are a fan of early British Sci Fi series ( Patrick Troughton was a great Dr Who ) then this series is for you.
