Indie Kidd: Oops, I Lost My Best(est) Friends
Indie Kidd: Oops, I Lost My Best(est) Friends
by Karen McCombie
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read, 2 May 2011
This easy to read story would suit any child from about 8 years up. The story is based on a girl who tries to support and help her step-brother into gaining friends (and also how her relationship with him develops in a caring and supportive way). This book explores the idea of image in a light and gentle way, allowing the reader to develop a real sense of the characters within the story. It is an ideal book if you wish to develop knowledge and understanding of friendship and relationships. If you enjoy the Wimpy Kid series then this story is another you are likely to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super backpack, 17 Jan. 2011
My daughter had this backpack for Christmas and has loved it. The colours are very attractive and the bag itself is just the right size for taking a number of toys when visiting friends/weekend away.
It sits well on a 4 year olds back without looking too heavy and the small pocket at the front is handy for small bits and pieces or loose change.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super New Lego Series, 17 Jan. 2011
This new lego series is already a great hit in our family. My son couldn't wait to open the box and proceeded to spend the next few hours in near silence while he built it!
The instructions are again first class. Once built he was keen to play with the construction and is already eyeing up other constructions in the series!
A must for all lego fans and also I think a great birthday present for any child aged 7 or over.

Crocodile Tears (Alex Rider)
Crocodile Tears (Alex Rider)

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent action packed adventure., 15 Nov. 2009
The eagerly awaited 8th Alex Rider book certainly live up to expectation!
Again, we find Alex fighting for survival against another set of rich hungry rogues.
Basing the story on the issues of GM crops and charity, the reader is drawn into issues within the world today. The way that Horowitz includes lines related to people such as Barack Obama and the expenses scandle helps to blur the line between reality and fiction.
For those people who haven't read any of the Alex Rider series, this book could be a stand alone although with the relationships and knowledge of the characters developing with each additional book I would recommend reading the whole series.
Furthermore, if you know a child between 11-15 whose interest in books has recently wained (and you have Christmas in mind!) look no further for a book which will grip and engage them.
Buy it, read it - you will want to come back for more!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Christmas Present for Young Chidren, 5 Oct. 2009
This a is lovely short story about a grumpy badger who doesn't want to stay up and celebrate Christmas with his friends.
Each time there is a knock at the door he gets grumpier and grumpier, but when disaster is about to strike will he save the day?
This is a super short story for little ones and is a twist on Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
It would make a lovely present for a young child - I've bought a copy ready for my 2 and 5 year olds!

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrid Henry Wakes The Dead, 2 Oct. 2009
The latest Horrid Henry books lives up to the good standard of the rest of the series.
As soon as the book arrived my son had his head straight into the book and was enjoying the four stories.
The first story focuses on Horrid Henry and Perfect Peter's fight over the TV remote control - something that many children who have a sibling will relate to!
The second story is about Henry versus Margaret to become school president while the third returns to Henry and Peter and their fight over a present.
Finally, to complete the book is a story about Henry trying to win a talent contest.
For fans of Horrid Henry this would make a super present.

Lift-the-flap Fairy Tales: Little Red Riding Hood
Lift-the-flap Fairy Tales: Little Red Riding Hood

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Red Riding Hood, 2 Oct. 2009
A great version of Little Red Riding Hood which young ones will love to join in with. The flaps add a welcomed addition to the story and make the book great to share.
The quality of the book is good and unlike some flap books you will not find the flaps breaking after a few reads. I also find that the sheer presence of the flaps encourages toddlers to read it independently

5.0 out of 5 stars The Runaway Dinner, 28 Sept. 2009
This review is from: The Runaway Dinner (Paperback)
This is another fantastic book by Allan Ahlberg.
I don't want to repeat what has been said in the other reviews (apart from the fact I agree) but if you love this one, then 'The Pencil' would be a great addition as the characters are the same.
Definately worth buying both of the books together - little ones will not be disappointed! (and adults will enjoy it too!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Mini Ninjas, 28 Sept. 2009
This review is from: Mini Ninjas (Wii) (Video Game)
We bought this game for my young son for his birthday and it has certainly been a hit. Even though he is young he has managed to understand the game and when he has got stuck has worked out what he needs to do.
The graphics on the game are quite good and the adventure is told in a way that young children can understand.
While I would not say this is the best Wii game we have purchased, it has certainly given hours of fun.
