1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, 13 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: VTech Baby Baby's Laptop (Toy)
I purchased this laptop for my son's birthday, all was fine at the beginning and my son loved the music and when the screen lights up. However, after just 2 months of use, when a sound is now played it reverts to the welcome tune after a couple of seconds... very annoying. As another reviewer points out this can't be returned after 30 days. You have been warned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saturated colours!, 17 Aug. 2013

This film renders the world as a colourful place. It is particularly suitable for flowers and objects. I find it too vivid for people :-) (I prefer portra for people). But overall I think it's the closest colour negative film currently available to the legendary Fuji slide films, and cheaper to process too... Buy some and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Manual Focus Dream, 7 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This lens when paired with a FM3a film camera is superb. The sharpness, contrast and lack of distortion makes it a perfect wide angle lens. When paired with DSLR, any camera below D7000 will not meter, this is not a problem, just use the sunny 16 rule or the LCD display and most images will turn out great.... This lens is all metal, built to standards not often seen today, and will last a lifetime. Get it while you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lens on d5100, 25 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good quality lens at an affordable price. The technology may be 20+ years old but as they say "they don't make them like they used to". The wide aperture ensures excellent depth of field control, achieving the blurred background is almost too easy. The lens performs well under reduced light, when a wide aperture is selected moderate shutter speeds are maintained reducing the likelihood of camera shake. I use this lens for portraits, landscapes and it even works well as a macro lens.

I bought this lens for Nikon D5100 and there are a few points to note. This lens will not auto focus on d3000/3100 or D5000/5100 as it has no in built motor. However enable the rangefinder function on the camera and manual focusing can be achieved quickly and accurately. Although the lens has an aperture ring, lock this at the minimum setting (f 22) before attaching the lens to the camera, and the aperture setting is controlled from the camera. Lastly due to smaller dx sensor this 50mm lens will act as a short telephoto no bad thing however you may have to zoom with your feet more.

I'll conclude by saying that this is probably the best quality and value consumer nikkor lens out there: brilliant optics, vivid colours and bokeh. If you can live with manual focus on the d3000/d5000 systems then you will not regret buying this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound and crystal clear DAB reception, 3 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I live in an area where the DAB signal struggles, however I've been impressed the excellent signal strength from this radio. The radio is clear with minimal interference. This unit is located in a spare room and the quality of the speakers are impressive with good bass. Please note to connect a 2nd gen ipod touch you'll need the dock adaptor as none of the right size came with this unit. One slight frustration, the headphone jack plugs in at the back, however overall an excellent product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent service from iTALKonline.. the product is OK, 3 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this for the Xoom. I chose a gel case as I didn't want to add the extra bulk a Folio case would bring. All the ports, buttons and cameras lens are accessible. The case fits snugly around the top, sides and back however it is a little loose at the bottom where the thinnest part of the case is. Overall the case offers good protection. Lastly, the service from iTALKonline was first class and my order arrived quickly and in good condition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect partner to the Xoom?, 3 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The dock is well built and comes with two adaptors (with or without a gel case attached to Xoom). The Xoom docks securely and is slightly angled to allow easy viewing for films and photos. There are only two connections available whilst docked, one for power and 3.5 mm line out (for speakers), if you need more buy the more expensive speaker dock... However, it would have been nice to be able to access the usb whilst docked however for this price I didn't expect more and it does what I need.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent start for Motorola and Google, 2 May 2011
I've been using this tablet now for a solid 2 weeks. After much consideration I bought the Xoom in preference to the Ipad2, let me tell you why. I have an iphone and whilst this does everything I need it to do the OS is extremely limiting. No matter what anyone tells you the ipad is just an enlarged iphone, it is closed system and reliant on itunes, I would not swap a laptop for this! Now on to the Xoom:

The pros -
The hardware has excellent build quality. The touch screen is extremely responsive and video is amazing! The processors are powerful and the cameras are far superior to that found on another well known tablet. Honeycomb is a winner (nearly see below) it allows multiple customisations -your Xoom will look and feel unique, it's easy to use and the browser is close to desktop experience. HTML5 and Flash for unparallelled internet experience. The in built apps such as email make excellent use of the screen. The battery easily lasts 8 hours on heavy use or 15 hours for just checking the odd email and light browsing. Multitasking is a breeze!

The cons -
The tablet weighs the same as the ipad1 so is slightly too heavy for using as an e-reader. Honeycomb, just feels like it needs an update to aid stability and sd card support would be welcome. No trickle charging via usb, not that this matters as it only takes 3 hours to charge and the battery life is excellent. We need more apps...

Overall, would I consider this in preference to a netbook? Yes! as you can run this tablet completely independent of a computer. In fact I haven't used mine for days... the wife is loving it!

4 Stars only because honeycomb update required. PS sorry for any typos this was typed entirely on the Xoom.

Classics in Total Synthesis II: Vol. 2: More Targets, Strategies, Methods (Chemistry)
Classics in Total Synthesis II: Vol. 2: More Targets, Strategies, Methods (Chemistry)
by K.C. Nicolaou
Edition: Paperback
Price: £70.00

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book...., 4 Jun. 2005
What a book this is! Written by the Modern Total Synthesis guru himself... K C Nicolaou. This second volume covers the design and synthesis of 21 natural products, from Stork's masterful synthesis of Quinine to the successful and elegant syntheses of Vancomycin independently achieved by both Evans and Nicolaou.
This book is arranged into 22 Chapters. Each chapter includes an introduction to the target (including biology, historical significance, chemistry concepts), full retrosynthetic analysis and strategy, the total synthesis (step by step, discussing any challenges and how they were overcome), a summary and a full reference listing. Additionally, important mechanisms and rearrangements are also covered.
This book will require the reader to have advanced organic chemistry knowledge, suitable for both advanced undergraduate students (ideally in 3rd or 4th years) and postgraduates. If you are in any way interested in the field of total synthesis this is a must have book!
