This DVD is not yet available on the USA ... but it is currently available at the UK Amazon. It requires a different format (to be played) which, fortunately, the DVD player on my laptop was capable of changing to. And, surprisingly, all 26 episodes are on a single DVD.

"Thomas & Friends - The Complete Series 2" picks up right where the first season left off. Ringo is still the narrator, and life is good on the island of Sodor. The shows are fun, the stories are still full of charm and sweet cleverness, and "turmoil" has yet to rear its ugly head. But, as the DVD progresses, they (the writers) seem to struggle to retain the innocence and fun of the story lines. The charm drains away, the cleverness disappears completely, and, about half-way through the DVD, they (the stories) run out of steam. The writers simply run out of good story ideas. And the fun that was so prominent in earlier "Thomas" episodes takes the express train right off the island.

It's a shame. Thomas was so very good. Why didn't they (the show's producers) recognize the drop-off in quality and make the extra effort to seek out other writers or other sources of story ideas? They let us down, but, more importantly, they let the children down.

They didn't just fumble the ball. They punted it right out of the stadium.
