1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible product, 9 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a terrible kit, we bought two kits for craftwork with 10 year olds. The parts supplied are inadequate, the instructions useless and the finished products are just so bad. Don't touch it

1.0 out of 5 stars Protest, 15 Dec. 2013
This review is from: Wild Tales (Kindle Edition)
I haven't read this book but I write here to comment on how overpriced it is.
As overpriced as the tickets in Glasgow's SECC 3 years ago where CSN left the stage after one hour and forty minutes.
Not that they stayed on stage for one hour forty minutes, they had a twenty minute break in the middle.
I have held these guys as gods for 40 years and when I paid to see them live on stage they couldn't hold a good show together between them.
Three guys with a back catalogue like theirs and they couldn't give a longer show? One, or two, of them couldn't stay on stage while the other had a break? They're getting on a bit, but Macca and others can do nearly three hours solid......solo.
I'd like to read this book but I won't waste another penny on any of the three of them.
Nuff said.

Can't get this to work on my Kindle Fire, wouldn't have bought the Kindle if I'd known that, maybe not the apps fault.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, 3 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have quite a collection of books about The Beatles and thought there wasn't much I hadn't read before but this book is full of new facts and in addition is an excellent history lesson in 1950's skiffle music which led to the music we've all lived with since. This is where it started. Beatles fan or just music fan, read it.

2.0 out of 5 stars A sad personal story, 21 Jan. 2013
Not very well put together by the ghost writer but there is some new information scattered across the pages, a lot of repetition too though
Surprised AT does not know the origin of the word Supergroup

And he's the first writer I have ever heard with a good word to say about Magic Alex, strangely
Hope he's made a few bob from this

How the Beatles Destroyed Rock n Roll: An Alternative History of American Popular Music

5.0 out of 5 stars A history of the development of 20th Century American music genres, 26 Feb. 2012
Anyone buying this book, as I did, believing it to have anything to do with The Beatles will be sorely disappointed. The Beatles feature on only about a dozen pages. However, don't be put off because this is an amazing trail through American popular music of the eighty years ending in 1970 and is a fascinating read. The detailed analysis of music's development is almost textbook stuff but it is handled in such a light manner that it is a very easy read and it is a must for all music lovers of whatever genre. Highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars This says it all, 22 April 2011
On page 311 The One Who Is First Among Those Who Serve The Great Earth Mother herself says:
"People should know, you don't always get what you want."
How succinctly and aptly put, this book is simply awfull.
Just a pity there is not a zero star rating here, one star sems too good for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So you think you know it all?, 4 Mar. 2011
When I first saw this book I wondered "Do I really need another Beatles book, and one which is so narrow and focussed?"
Well yes, I am really pleased to say, this is an exceptionally good book, well researched and well written. It is not only a coverage of the instrumentation, it retells the Beatles story from a different angle from the very start and details the instruments, techniques and effects used at every stage of their career. In most cases we are even told the source of each instrument, how it was acquired, cost, who's hands it passed through before and after The Beatles and where it is now. It is very thorough.
The constant repeating of the instrumentation used sometimes gets a bit repetitive and annoying but that is a small complaint given the purpose of the book and the thoroughness of it's approach. The photographs, layout and printing are superb, it is a joy to look at page after page although at times the relative photograph does not appear until a few pages after the wording but considering how much is crammed in here that is a small complaint too. After they stopped playing live the book's tone seems to change and it is not written in exactly the same style somehow. I guess that after that point photographic evidence of instrumentation was not so readily available as it had been in the live days.
In all a fabulous book, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 2 Sept. 2010
I have had several hair trimmers over the years, all corded and all with individual depth gauges. All a nuisance to use.
My son had one of these and immediately I saw it I wanted one, bought it that night and it was delivered in 24 hours.
This machine is a dream to use lighter, more flexible than anything else by a long shot. Highly recommended, wish I'd had it years ago.
