5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin!, 21 Jun. 2011
After reading some of the reviews for this product I was a little hesitant to order one. I need not have worried; I was transferring my first VHS-C tape within minutes of the postman delivering the device! One criticism levelled at the adapter is that it is difficult to extract the cassette once you've finished. I had no such trouble. True, it's a snug fit but you wouldn't want a sloppy fit would you? Perhaps those reviewers missed the finger sized hole, thoughtfully provided by the manufacturer on the back of the device, which enables you to push out the cassette from underneath. All in all a great product at a reasonable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, 15 Jan. 2011
This review is from: NIV Study Bible (Hardcover)
I am not qualified to judge the accuracy of the translation of this book - or indeed the accompanying commentary/notes - so this review is purely to do with quality and presentation.

The book replaces one from the same publisher, purchased more than 15 years ago. It is well made and the paper quality, whilst thin, feels hard-wearing. My 63-year old eyes can read the text without the aid of glasses and the open book lays reasonably flat for a volume of more than 2000 pages. There are useful maps and timelines which help with the history and geography of the Bible lands. All in all a good quality publication with a useful concordance. If this edition lasts as long as the well-used one it replaces I will be well pleased.

OtterBox Impact Case for iPhone 3G/3GS - Black
OtterBox Impact Case for iPhone 3G/3GS - Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Otterbox 'Impact' case for iPhone, 14 April 2010
The Otterbox 'Impact' - despite it's macho-sounding name - will not make your iPhone indestructible. So, if you're a builder or work in a dusty environment this may not be the one for you. Apart from a clear film screen protector (supplied) the screen is uncovered and the top and bottom ports, speakers, microphone, and camera are permanently open and accessible - even the shiny Apple logo on the back of your phone remains uncovered. (I guess to pander to the "Hey everybody, look, I've got an iPhone" crowd).

That said, I do like this case. Ever since my first iPhone lost an argument with a quarry tile floor, I have had fairly robust cases. Without exception, these have looked klunky and managed to destroy the iPhone's elegance and impede it's usability. The 'Impact' reaches a happy compromise: it's one of the more interesting rubber designs currently available, with a raised, X-shape rear moulding and very grippy sides - you'd have to try hard to let it slip from your fingers. If you did drop it, however, extra thick rubber at the corners should cushion the impact (hey, maybe that's why they...) The Home, Volume and On/Off buttons are covered yet still work perfectly. The ringer on/off slider remains uncovered. The supplied screen protector seems to be very scratch resistant and doesn't affect sensitivity or visibility. The bottom and top ports are accessory compatible. Included in the package are: Case, Screen Protector, Applicator and MicroFibre cloth.

So, not perfect but if you want a good degree of protection without impeding usability this could be the case for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Value for money digicam, 11 Jan. 2010
I bought this camera it for my teenage daughter who absolutely LOVES it. It's easy to use and comes loaded with features usually found on more expensive cameras - including face recognition, panorama, and video. On board memory is quite small so you'll need to invest in a SD card. I would also recommend getting a case, a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger. Not as slim and 'cool' looking as some of the more expensive models but it feels well made and at this price who's complaining!
