Solo concert of Lou Reed 1972 in New York, shortly after his separation from the Velvet Underground and immediately after the completion of his second solo album „Transformer". Contained in the middle of this CD is also a short radio interview with Lou Reed, which doesn't disturb at all, but fits in very well. Lou Reed is at his best. Obviously he never plays a song twice in the same way, which makes his live albums very interesting. In my opinion each song on this CD is excellent, and I don't want to highlight one of them especially.

This review is from: Heaven On Earth (Audio CD)
With her song „Heaven Is A Place On Earth", Belinda Carlisle definitely has deserved a place in Heaven, be that on Earth or anywhere else. Other great songs are „Circle In The Sand", „I Feel Free", „Fool For Love" and „Love Never Dies". Belinda Carlisle has Punk Rock roots and New Age wings, a beautiful combination! And her singing comes straight from the heart, just as it should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rough, 1 Feb. 2003
The only studio album of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers. The production is somewhat rough, but finally that also is a charm of this music. All songs are great. Especially I would like to mention „Pirate Love", „Can't Keep My Eyes On You", „Chinese Rocks", „It's Not Enough" and of course „Born To Lose". Highly recommendable is also the corresponding live album „Live At Max's Kansas City".

5.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous, 1 Feb. 2003
This review is from: What Goes Around (Audio CD)
First live album of the follow-up band of the New York Dolls, with Johnny Thunders and Richard Hell. Where punk rock originates. The Heartbreakers were later part of the Anarchy Tour in England, together with the Sex Pistols and the Clash. Savage and dangerous. With „Pirate Love", „Hurt Me", „You Gotta Lose", „Stepping Stone" (by the Monkees, later taken over by the Sex Pistols and by Sid Vicious) and „Blank Generation".

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild, 1 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Heartbreakers Live Maxs (Audio CD)
This in my opinion is the best live album of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers. Wild and intense, in the same time vulnerable and melodious, really far out. It also doesn't disturb that much, when the beginning of a song doesn't work out and they need a second start. My favourite songs are „Chinese Rocks", „Get Off Of The Phone", „One Track Mind", „Can't Keep My Eyes On You" and „I Wanna Be Loved".

This in my opinion is the best album of the New York Dolls. Many great songs are represented: „Hoochie Coochie Man", „Great Big Kiss", „Babylon", „Pirate Love" and „Jet Boy". The band has a rough energy, which will be a pleasure to every punk rock fan (Malcolm McLaren, the manager of the Sex Pistols, was previously for a short time the manager of the New York Dolls). Also the follow-up band The Heartbreakers is highly recommendable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dynamic, 1 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Livid (Audio CD)
Reunion concert recordings of Blondie after a solo period of their singer Deborah Harry. The band is at their best. They play the old hits as well as newer material. My favourite songs are „Dreaming", „Hanging On The Telephone", „Screaming Skin", „Atomic", „Forgive And Forget", and so on, thus actually all of them together. These concert recordings are also available on video. However, I even more like the video „Blondie Live" of the former last concert before their split.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, 1 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Nocturne (Audio CD)
The only live album of this inventive group. Many of their great hits are represented. Most of all I like „Dear Prudence", „Melt!", „Cascade", „Happy House" and „Spellbound". The end is quite beyond the threshold of pain and reminds me of certain Lou Reed songs. There is also a video of this concert. Siouxsie behaves as a magician, and her dance seems to be an ongoing incantation ritual. Fascinating.

Magnificent hits compilation of a magnificent group. The songs are very rhythmic, dynamic and pleasing. Sting, the singer and bass player, has a unique voice. My favourite songs are „Message In A Bottle", „Walking On The Moon", „Don't Stand So Close To Me", „Every Breath You Take" and „King Of Pain".

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, 31 Jan. 2003
This review is from: Bring on the Night (Audio CD)
Jazz inspired live recordings of songs mainly from Stings first solo album „The Dream Of The Blue Turtles". The musicians are in best form and very playful. Most of all I like the medleys, especially „One World (Not Three)/Love Is The Seventh Wave". The songs are not only coupled to each other, but woven in each other. Stunning! There is also a video of the same title worth seeing, about how this concert tour was made to happen.
