1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious and joyless, 21 May 2014
This review is from: The Mezzanine (Paperback)
I was recommended this book by an employee in my local independent book store. She said it was hilarious. She clearly has a serious personality disorder.

This is probably the most tedious book I have ever struggled through. The problem isn't the style, or the author's obvious craft. It is that the protagonist is a bland facsimile of even a dull human being. No one could be this boring in real life unless heavily sedated. An interior life this limited and excruciating could only be the creation of a pretentious author. Do not waste your time reading this book. Instead, do something more enriching, like watching Come Dine with Me.
