Making Your Mark: Creating Cloth for Imagery, Stitch, Embroidery & Embellishment
by Claire Benn
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Really worthwhile, 7 Mar. 2014
This is a book that is worthwhile; not an instant fix but if you are willing to work through the chapters (in any order you want) and challenge yourself on the way then you will end up with marks and a set of marks that are unique to you. It is worth both the effort and the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book really reflects Cas and her personality and skills, 19 Nov. 2011
A worthwhile addition to my library, especially having been on one of Cas's courses. It is at once a useful reminder of some techniques, an introduction to others, and a great collection of images of Cas's work

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, hard to fit, 19 Nov. 2011
Window Film was delivered quickly and on time with what appeared to be somewhat daunting fitting instructions - and so it turned out. It was a slow and very fiddly job to cut the film to size and then fit it to each small pane of glass

Hopefully it will never be properly tested!

5.0 out of 5 stars For beginners and experienced artists, 16 Dec. 2009
Well worth the money, this is a book for both those who are new to screen printing on textile, and those with experience. So many ideas and techniques to produce hugely different results. All written in clear language, and really well illustrated. A huge number of ideas and pictures.

Even if you thought you knew all there was to know about screen printing there will be something in this book, one or more ideas, that will move your work to a new or different level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenge yourself, 16 Dec. 2009
This is not a book for browsing, more a book to work at. The book provides ideas for challenging yourself and your own ideas, a sort of home based group session, but where you can do this whenever you want

It is an invaluable tool for generating ideas, and really makes you think about what you are doing and where you might want to go with your work. Whilst written with textiles in mid, artists from almost any discipline would find the ideas and process helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars A really practical guide, 3 Dec. 2007
For all those interested in textiles and screen printing this book is a must. If you have never seen the results from breakdown printing, the book not only shows you some superb examples to provide inspiration, it also shows in very clear language, steps and photos, just what to do

Here is encouragement to experiment and learn

Well worth the money - and the time you will then spend exploring and enjoying.
