5.0 out of 5 stars A sharp calligraphy nib, and comfortably large grip, giving good italic results., 13 Mar. 2015
This pen has a sharp calligraphy nib which gives a really clear difference between thick and thin strokes. Excellent for italic with nice, clear and crisp lines. Good ink flow and the cap seals well so the nib is always ready.. It isn't a cursive nib so there is a limit to how fast you can write - Lamy do other pens, with more cursive nibs, for every day use. I have big hands, so I was pleasantly surprised by the large dimensions and comfortable grip. It takes cartridges but you can buy a converter. Overall, a really nice calligraphy pen which gives good results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sanity for 77p, 28 Feb. 2014
Absolute bliss! Little glimpses into the domestic life of another woman that has kept me sane during a particularly yucky week. The sort of book you look forward to sneaking off with for a quick five minutes of nosey escapism in someone elses life. I feel i have found a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glencairnie by Penny Worton, 4 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Glencairnie (Paperback)
A vivid and fascinating account of the impact of world events on both ends of the social spectrum in the rural Scottish Borders. This book portrays the lives of the local farming community, their relationship with the upper classes, and the joys and heart rending tragedies as unfolding world events touch all of their lives.
A gripping storyline and excellent character portrayal ensure a page turning read.

The bags were cheap enough and seemed to work well. However, the larger ones leaked and deflated within a day. The small ones have worked well though.

4.0 out of 5 stars An wealth of interesting facts and figures, 3 July 2008
OK, so the grammar isn't perfect and there are some dodgy spellings in there. I don't know enough about the subject to commment on the accuracy of his calculations but I just wanted to know more about ballistics and, for that purpose, this book is just excellent. From an explanation of ballistic gyroscopics to a comparison of the amount of recoil from different rounds, from maximum range to bullet design, from velocity to rifling and wind deflection. It's all in there and it's all interesting. It's the sort of book you can pick up in a spare moment and learn something to irritate your shooting colleagues with. It depends on your level of knowledge and how techie you want to get - I've been shooting for thirty odd years and found lots of interesting stuff to read and learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Competitive Shooting - Yur'yev, 19 Feb. 2006
This review is from: Competitive Shooting (Hardcover)
This is the best book I have come accross for precision competitive pistol and rifle shooting. It is very thorough and comprehensive on matters of technique, reinforcing recommendations with scientific fact. It also has a section on mental training and covers Autogenics. Where other books skim, this one delves into the detail. excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...The Unexpected History of the Giant Tortoise, 4 Sept. 2004
This was an absolutely superb read, fascinating, gripping and hard to put down. The author covers significant periods in the history of Giant Tortoises but digresses just enough to be able to include fascinating tales which will appeal to a wider audience - Darwin's struggle to prove evolution, the Victorian's version of conservation (kill it and pickle it!), their role on pirate ships, the suprisingly interesting history of some current day zoo tortoises (including one in Steve Irwin's zoo)and much more. If you've ever watched a tortoise with even the slightest degree of interest, you must read this book.
