2.0 out of 5 stars In need of firmer editing, 3 Dec. 2012

This review is from: Reamde (Kindle Edition)
As with all of Neal Stepehnson's novels from Cryptonomicon onwards, this book deserved to experience better editing than it received. Overly long, and sprawling across continents, seemingly disparate story lines slowly converge before a dramatic denouement in which the 'good guys' are assisted by some remarkable coincidences which would have been acceptable in a Dickens serial, but feel overworked and an attempt to get the plot over the line in a modern work of fiction. Character development is fairly non-existent, from the capable young woman to the hard-bitten, former special forces soldier, any one character from this novel can easily be cut out from one of Stephenson's other more recent works and transplanted with a mere name change to this one. Read and enjoy if you would like more of the same, but avoid if you'd like something different from a formerly very original author.

Simply awesome. Brilliant light output - a single unit is enough to light a family tent for all activities, including reading. It hangs from stuff, it sticks to metal stuff, and it lasts a very long time on a single set of batteries. We've used this all year on site and now it's helping us pack things away into the attic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fine sound quality, poor durability, 2 Dec. 2012

Whilst the sound quality from these headphones is fine, they've really not stood up to a couple of months of relatively light usage. I use these about once a day, on a half hour commute, and the jack has degraded to a point where I have to jiggle it about to get sound from both earphones. I could live with this if I'd spent a tenner on them, but at the price that these earphones are sold for, that's pretty poor quality. Don't buy these unless you plan to treat them like an antique vase.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flaky performance, 25 Jan. 2012

This product works fine some of the time, with clear audio and video, but it frequently seems to have trouble making a solid connection between my macbook pro and any external displays. Plugging and unplugging will sometimes, but not always, work to correct the problem. I do wish that I hadn't simply gone for the cheapest A/V capable mini port to hdmi adapter available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 7 April 2011

A brilliant bread book. This book, and the accompanying DVD, has revolutionised my breadmaking. Before reading this I had been producing leaden loaves which I couldn't even bribe my family to eat. Every instruction and recipe in the book is clear and straightforward, and the relaxed tone and style contrast with the rather dogmatic approach adopted in other popular baking books, such as 'Bread Matters'.
