1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good, but doesn't work for long, 4 Feb. 2013
It looks like a solid, long-lasting quality lock. But don't be fooled!

I've had two, the second a replacement under guarantee, and both have failed in the same way. They were used to secure an outdoor bike shed and both seized up completely within a few months of being outdoors. I've had to have them cut off.

Not a reliable option for outdoor use.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of balanced historical study, 24 July 2010
An extremely impressive piece of work. Given the mainly Soviet sources still currently unavailable this is as comprehensive as is possible, and as the average reader would be willing to take on. The appendices, eye-witness accounts, poetry and photos are masterfully selected to broaden the even-handed approach Davies takes to the military, political and social aspects of the '44 Rising.

As others say, I found the Anglicised Polish names distracting, but only because I am comfortable with Polish. Davies tried something different on names - but provided an appendix for those still wanting to know the original Polish. A fair compromise in a superb tome.

I shall be looking up other Davies works after this. I would recommend this book to all those interested in the Second World War, the Cold War and central European history. Also those interested in the ethics of British foreign policy would do well do have read.

George Foreman 10099 6-Portion Entertaining Grill in Silver
George Foreman 10099 6-Portion Entertaining Grill in Silver

4.0 out of 5 stars A great kitchen help, 14 Dec. 2009
We've had this grill for 4.5 years and used it several times a day for toast, veggie burgers, sausages, reheating food and more. It's now died and we're looking for a replacement as we can't live without one of these grills! Two reasons for giving it 4 stars and not 5:

1. It is a bit of a pain to clean so I'm hoping removable plate versions solve that.

2. Without a separate handle it is possible to touch hot parts when trying to open the grill or move it over. With kids around this can be a bit of a worry.

Newer models have handles and removable plates so resolve these concerns I think. But this is a very generously sized model which is fast and simple to use, so still worth it when can be had at a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just keep on driving..., 5 July 2003
This hard rockin' electric blues blows away the cobwebs and reminds you how much fun the blues can be. Of course we have incredible harmonica virtuosity on display... this IS Blue Traveler of course. But all the songs are tight, foot-tappingly good nuggets of energy too. Some use of strings adds nicely to several songs without overdoing it... it's a very well balanced album. If you need an upbeat CD to stamp your boots to this is it!

Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World
Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World
by Bruce Schneier
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Accessible, interesting and important., 6 Feb. 2001
It's well written and the author works hard not to alienate any readers. But it's also heartfelt, through the course of the book we have a former NSA analyst who has been deeply entrenched in a world of cryptopgraphy that he comes to realise is not the answer to all our security worries.
It is almost if he laments the effort we have all expended on algorithms and papers when so many other areas have been overlooked.
But there is hope and even if it ends on a bit sell for his company the book is generous in its information, tips, advice and thinking.
Come away with your eyes and mind open to the brave new world of security.
