1.0 out of 5 stars It's all here if that is the sort of rot that that you enjoy reading. Otherwise avoid, 2 Nov. 2014
This review is from: Gone Girl (Paperback)
I am attempting to give this a zero rating but only on the presumption that a minus is not permitted. Have only completed this book as part of a book club choice (not mine) I can empathise with the other one star critics who still have use of their critical faculties and were possibly university educated in the 1970's. For this is low brow writing perfectly in tune with the modern generation of consumers of fast food, empty modern technology, and social media. Will appeal to the groups of thirty something mothers that loiter in cafes in our neighbourhood having driven their kids to school in a 4x4 and who then congregate to moan about their Eastern -European cleaners and who are always "stressed".
Crass, thin characterisation, over-written dissections of relationships, spelling mistakes, and an implausible and laughable ending. It's all here if that is the sort of rot that you enjoy reading.
Otherwise avoid, life is too short and there are too many decent authors to engage with.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not quite..., 30 Sept. 2013
Having worn Levi's since 1971 I can see that this pair, whilst a good fit, are of a different quality with a rather garish leather name strip at the rear. Made in Poland, last pair I had were from Pakistan so cost base migrating round the globe. Good price and weight so reasonably satisfied but not washed them yet. Amazon Logistics delivery system requires the patience of a saint unless you are able to make parcel drop arrangements. No text messages from courier despite having requested these. Complained and had delivery charges refunded. This aspect of the purchase very poor and will put me off a re-order if delivery by the same method.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Big Planet ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 6 Sept. 2009
This review is from: LittleBigPlanet (PS3) (Video Game)
This game is one of the best games I have ever played. It is soooo fun. I don't have a PS3, but my friend does and I played it at her house. She had told me that it was brilliant and that I would love it, but I didn't think it could be THAT good. Well, I was WRONG!!!!!!! I love the way you can design the pattern on your sackperson, and you can even give it things like bunny ears, glasses and little fairy wings! There are absolutely heaps of levels, that start off easy, but get harder as you go along. This stops the game from getting repetetive and boring. Some of my favourite levels are Tunnel Plunge, Burning Forest and something along the lines of Swinging Safari. The game is cute, clever and original. What's more, you can even create your own world! My friend, who's PS3 I was playing on, created a land called Rubyworld which was almost as cool as the levels. Some of the levels are really funny, like the one where you have to drag that sumo wrestler, and that one with the indian temple. The only thing slightly wrong with this game is if you play it every day (which you will end up doing!), my friend says it can get a bit boring. But that is hardly anything. Overall, I would give this game 1000/1000 and I have decided to pester my dad for a PS3 and this game!!!! Lol xoxoxox

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Histerical!, 26 May 2009
This book is so funny it literally had me in stitches. All those 1 star or 2 star reviews are just stupid. The people writing them must simply have no sense of humour. AT ALL. I have read this book and all the ones following afterwards; I have just finished "Startled by his furry shorts!" which was probably the best one yet. What's more, it ends on a massive cliffhanger, which means that whether you enjoyed the book or not, you will just have to buy the next one, which I still have to do.
These books are about a teenage girl called Georgia Nicolson. Her life revolves around her looks, friends, her embarrasing family and, most importantly, boys. Throughout the book she writes a hilarious diary with words like "Marvy", "Fabulosity" and "Red bottomosity". I recommend it to girls aged 12-14, though boys will find it wonderful too. An absolute must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Animal Crossing is the best!, 22 May 2009
Animal Crossing is the best game ever. You've probably heard people say this many times, but they really do mean it. You get to name your own character and your own town (it can be a real place like New York or can be something completely made up.) You first have to work for a racoon named Tom Nook who owns the town store. The store starts off as Nook's Cranny, but as you progress further into the game it becomes bigger: Nook 'n' Go, Nookway and finally the biggest and best shop, Nookingtons.
The work only takes 20 minutes, and is more fun than it sounds because you get to meet the townsfolk and find your way round the town.
After that, you can do what you want! Pay off your mortgage and get bigger houses that you can decorate yourself, catch bugs with your net, fish, dig, chat to the locals, wander round the store, explore the museum, post letters at the Town Hall, invite friends or go to another town with the help of Copper and Booker from the Main Gate, or check out Able Sisters. This is the tailor shop where you can buy new clothes, umbrellas, hats and acsessories, design your own fashions and display or trade designs.
I would recommend this game to any one between the ages of 8 and 14. It is highly entertaining. My only flaw would be that if you have absolutely nothing to do it can get boring.
THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nemesis, 24 April 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Compressed into an hour and a half the viewer will visit and be immersed in the dark side of human nature, consider the meaning of evil and ask questions of themselves which will perhaps bring back long suppressed memories of guilt, anger, and hatred.

This is a pocket-sized gem encapsulating much of the human condition but without a shred of optimism.

A bleak Midlands town is the back-drop for a visitation by an avenging angel - Paddy Considine back from the army and out to exact recompense for the ill-treatment of his gentle but sub-normal brother at the hands of the town's dysfunctional drug fuelled petty crooks.

What follows is not easy viewing but left this reviewer sitting on the sofa with his head in his hands for several minutes after the credits had stopped.

An exceptional film ,coupled with a perfectly judged soundtrack and one which will linger long in the mind.
