3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been larger, 14 May 2016

Full of information but too small a format. Looks as if the book had been photo-reduced from an originally larger format and thus the text and images are rather small and not so comfortable to view.

Having bought WD My Book Essential drives previously and finding the bundled, and virtually inescapable, WD SmartWare not to my taste (to put it as mildly as I possibly can) I was initially reluctant to buy this Elements drive. However investigation showed the Elements drive to be WD SmartWare free, a plus point that could have been made more of in my opinion. Not mentioned in the supplied literature, but only on WDs site, is a somewhat confused situation as to the need, or possibly not, to reformat the drive. At least in the case of a no larger than 2TB drive, a Win 7 PC, not needing XP compatibility or access to Windows own backup software, the drive was useable exactly as supplied, formatted in NTFS. As a plain drive the Elements drive does work well on both legacy USB2 ports and more speedily on retrofitted USB3 ports. It does however have a creaky plastic housing and seems rather bulky for what it is, particularly as it has an external mains PSU.

A simple card which works well in a 5 year old PC that only had USB2. Used to connect a USB3 external hard drive it sent files at 2 to 4 times the speed (depending on the file size) compared with connecting the same drive by a USB2 port. There was an apparent problem installing the card's drivers where the installation stalled for want of Flash on the host PC (a requirement not mentioned anywhere previously). My PC just wont let Flash be installed, and I shouldn't have to have it for this purpose anyway. However on clicking away the error messages the installation eventually proceeded to a satisfactory conclusion. Not mentioned anywhere either was the inclusion of a Molex power cable which it seems necessary to be connected to a spare connector in the PC to enable the USB3 ports to supply the extra 5v DC amperage compared with USB2. Connecting this power cable does achieve that. This is a positive point, but failure to explain it wasn't

Works fine. Appears virtually identical to the original supplied with the TV 4 years previously, though the buttons are firmer to press. Maybe that'll make it more robust than the original. The replacement will get the extra star if it lasts longer than the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job well, 23 Mar. 2014

Bought to replace an angled version of this type of adapter which provided an unreliable contact and obscured the headphone socket in my Google Nexus 10. The Guilty Gadgets type suffers from neither of these problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just wear it, 23 Dec. 2013

Wanted a watch that would give accurate time all the time and require no attention at all in normal use. This should be it. I appreciate how, on receipt, all necessary settings had already been made for the watch to display the correct time and date for my location (UK). If like me you had previously downloaded the manual from the Casio site, you would realise that there are an awful lot of settings that might need to me made. The only change I needed to make was to change from 12Hr setting to 24Hr setting. On taking the watch out of its light- and radio signal-screening metal presentation box it was fully charged and only a few seconds out, and once it had synced at the first opportunity has kept perfect time. The battery has remained fully charged without any special effort to keep the watch exposed to light. The watch is a fair bit chunkier than similarly styled lower-spec Casio watches but the design of the strap ensures it remains securely positioned even on a relatively narrow wrist. Expecting to get many years' good use out of it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fiddly to get it to work, 10 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought to connect a Fuji USB card reader to a Google Nexus 10 (in conjunction with the necessary Nexus Media Importer app). For a month or more I couldn't get the Nexus to see the connection, but persevered and it connected in the end. Discovered that it was necessary to insert the card reader into the cable socket (I might say shove) and wriggle it until Nexus Media Importer reports connection made. Further tests show that another USB device plugged into the cable needs the same fiddly treatment to make a connection. The card reader and the other USB device plugged into other equipment connect without difficulty. So I conclude the OTG cable to be at fault. For the price I couldn't be bothered to seek a replacement, but will probably look to buy an alternative brand.

Bought to use with a micro usb host mode on the go cable for conection to a Google Nexus 10, plus an app, but I cannot get it to work. Don't suspect the card reader though. On a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine it worked after a restart. On a Windows 7 SP1 machine it was not recognised at all until I went into 'compmgmt' and made the machine run disk management. Probably just my luck!
