4.0 out of 5 stars Good but..., 1 Aug. 2013

Everyone has been raving about this book and, yes, it was good - but only just getting four stars from me. Probably a 3.5 out of 5 in truth. Was expecting it to be better, given the reviews. That said, it was decent enough. Shame his career was cut short by injury. He could've been up there with the best.

One of the best autobiographies out there for football fans. The highs, the lows, sheer honesty, no punches pulled. Great stuff. Deserves every single one of the five stars.

Probably helps if you understand cricket (which fortunately I do) - very funny, a real page turner, couldn't wait to see how it all panned out. Left me wanting more - that's praise and a criticism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly brilliant, 1 Aug. 2013

Very well written, pretty amusing, full of snappy anecdotes, he comes across as a humble guy too. One of the best autobiographies I've read for years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great insight into the business, 19 Jun. 2012

As a fellow journalist - albeit not quite as successful as the author - I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's not, as you wouldn't expect, laugh out loud funny (even though some moments did make me laugh) but it's full of interesting stories and gives a terrific insight into the life of a football journalist.

Buying this was money well spent. Seems a good guy too which is rare in the business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it from start to finish, 19 Jun. 2012

While accepting there are a few inaccuracies in terms of facts here and there, it doesn't detract from the average fan of OF&H really enjoying this book.

I laughed out loud at so many of the show's quotes - even when I knew what the punchline was going to be! Got a few odd looks around the pool where I was reading it.

Great show, great memories, great book - don't let a few minor errors put you off.
