5.0 out of 5 stars Frank Sidebottom's nightmare, 24 May 2016

I saw these guys at O2 Brum supporting Chameleonsvox. They are the stuff of nightmares, Frank Sidebottom nightmare. The album really does reflect their live presence. Pil, hawkwind and Sabbath, mixed with Krautrock. Awesome

5.0 out of 5 stars tres bon von haus, 14 April 2016

Very good for price. It cuts through hedges. Maximum for branches is 16mm to cut through. Not that heavy. We good amount of cord. The packaging is great as you can put hedge cutter back in box. Well worth the money just dont expect it to cut through large branches more than 16mm.

5.0 out of 5 stars its a beast, 14 April 2016

I wanted a retro looking Bluetooth speak to match my wooden 1byone turntable. To be honest I wanted to hook up the turntable to the audio inputs. Does it sound good? Too right it does. Simple controls bass treble volume. You can easily get a decent spectrum of sound, without faffing about eqs. Sly and Robbie sounds awesome through. GPO should team up with 1byone.

5.0 out of 5 stars looks good, plays good, it'll go far, 14 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I haven't had a turntable in 16 years but still have plenty of vinyl. Not being completely on the spectrum about turntables. I visited a local Richer Sounds and encountered the most boring turntable expert ever. So I turned to the internet. Wanting a reasonably priced belt driven turntable. This looked quite tasty, nice wooden looks, basic controls but with added Bluetooth capabilities. I may add not from turntable to wireless speaker but from device to turntable. It has not jumped on my old vinyl. The sound from the built in speakers is very good with a decent amount of bass. Quite a surprise. Great looks, plays well. Could do with a slip mat but that's a minor niggle. Finally you audio attach this to a retro gpo wireless speaker. It cooks. Sly and Robbie sounds mega.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor instructions but finally worked, 2 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This update. I got it to work finally. Using the ethernet and a particular sequence of inputting the username and password of camera and then hub password. It finally worked as WiFi via a iphone. I don't think it works with windows, android, Nokia. If you want it to work behind glass, you will need to black tape out the lights, otherwise the reflections will cause issues. The camera is very clear picture with audio record. I just wish it didn't take so long to set up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark scary the true alternative, 7 Oct. 2013
A compilation from ten years of musical output by Marcus H under his music project Soiled. These are the upbeat choices. In this day and age of boring packaged so called Alternative music. This bloke is on his own. Check out Toy Town stunt Team Council and Heavy Dawn!

4.0 out of 5 stars De la soul via Aspects, 19 Feb. 2012
This review is from: Stereo Typical (MP3 Download)
I am old enough to better. Having grown up with De La Soul and the Hip Hop electro compilation tapes of the Eighties. World weary from watching Hip Hop go down the gangster route. My hand was forced due to charperone duties. Off I ventured to Sheffield Plug venue to see the Rizzlekicks. Having only heard a couple of singles, the cd was duly slipped into the stereo for the journey down.

Surprised yes. Refreshing yes. Vocal ticks are straight outta the Aspects album "Correct English" and the quirky nature of the tunes too. It could be a direct linage. Thats not to degrade this album. It puzzles me how and why they are attached and promoted with such acts as One Direction and the Brit pop manufactured dirge. They are more than that pap. This is clever mature Hip Hop.

What amazes me after seeing them live, is how toned down this album is. Again not a critism. Live these tracks come into there own, its pure English Hip Hop on Speed.

Get this album and buy the Aspects Correct English and Mystery Theatre and you wont go wrong.

As the Guardian newspaper once said of the Aspects debut "Aspects are the brightest hopes for British hip hop". Well the Rizzlekicks are not only the brightest... "they are million candles brighter".

3.0 out of 5 stars flawed but still special the DIY gem, 25 Aug. 2010
This review is from: Soiled - Shambolic (Audio CD)
Found this cheap. Really surprised. As the title suggest its a flawed but there are plenty of gems on this album. It only really kicks off after the third track with a doom laden guitar track with sample vocal by I think Will Self. Its dark not to far off the feeling of early electronica indie albums of the early eighties. Not in style, the style is just chaotic. Careering through dance or dare I say IDM tracks, black mini instrumental pieces, rancid drum tracks. Never stopping to stay with one particular genre. Which after listening to other Soiled albums is his style.

If you miss the first two songs out you will not be disappointed. Stand out tracks: Major Chunter, Joyslider Death Celebration, Ikiller.

Flawed but hidden gems. Well worth finding out a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars its not xtc and all the better for it, 19 May 2007
This review is from: Monstrance (Audio CD)
You got to hand it to Partridge. When fans of his XTC work are crying out for a new product, out pops a Barry Andrews,Martyn Barker collaboration.Anyone who has a clue about Partridge's history, will know his love of free form, check XTC B-sides out. We have read about the accolade of the greatest songwriter of the late 70's, 80's and a bit of the 90's. I, like a few people who appreciate Andy Partridge's work, can stand back and take an objective look at his songwriting, have come to the conclusion. This accolade has become an Abletross, boredom has set in.

Monstrance is fresh, up to date and powerful and the tracks are fused together, stiched by noise and rhythm. The washed over guitar and keyboard layers melt into the movement of Barker's playing. Monstrance is the new dawn in Partridge's career and what a dawn to wake up to. Just hope the tinnitus improves, for a Monstrance 2 too come forth.
