5.0 out of 5 stars Great value dvd player, 2 April 2013
Good looking slim and compact player, plug in and ready to go instantly. It can be made region free by the following steps:

1) Turn on the dvd player
2) Press the eject/stop button on the dvd player (not the remote) to open the tray, and leave it open!
3) On the remote press 98790 (if done right, a message will appear stating that region has been changed to 0)
4) Done

worked first time for me and plays all my USA region 1 dvds

5.0 out of 5 stars great glimpse of the past, 27 Jun. 2012

Just finished watching aqnd enjoying this on dvd, the picture quality is not great but after a few minutes you don't really notice it and it just adds to the nostalgia feeling.
I remember watching this on tv in the early 1970's, staying up late on a friday night for a scary film was great. This movie still has a good story to it, all these years later and it still held me to the end. Great seeing Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd before they became famous, and Pamela Franklin was as always great.
Even though this movie was a low budget tv movie it still had quite good production values, decent actors and a story that kept you watching unlike some of today's low budget movies. Although it is supposed to be set near Boston it has clearly been shot in southern California as were almost all 1970's tv movies.
All in all definetly a dvd I will keep and watch again, so many early 1970's TV movies that I can remember the story but not the title and would love to have them for my collection. The TV channels never seem to show this wealth of nostalgic entertainement, except for the excellent "Race with the Devil" (Peter Fonda, Loretta Swit)which is shown regularly, catch that one if you can.
I would recomend this if you are a fan of 1970's scary tv movies, also "The Legend of Hell House" (Pamela Franklin, Roddy McDowell) is another great 1970's movie that is still eerie to this day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Show, 6 Dec. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Went to see this show in 2004, it was slightly different that this version from 2007 but it still brought back great memories. The show is fantastic and I thought the flashes of the kids in the audience just made it even more special as you could feel their excitement. 5 out of 5 and would def recomend any one who has seen the show to get it to keep your memories going and for anyone who has'nt see it will thoroughly enjoy the show christmas after christmas.

all I can say is don't buy this movie, the acting, the sets, the costumes, the story, the whole thing is terrible. If a minus rating was possible I would give it minus 10

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kept Secret, 29 July 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Simply the most heart warming Christmas film of all time. The cast and story are perfect, and the film leaves you with a wonderful old fashioned Christmas feeling. The ice skating scene is great and I wish I could decorate my tree like Dudley does. The remake of this film with Whitney Houston,The Preachers Wife, practically copies this film step by step but still cannot catch the wonderful message and feeling that this film delivers. A 5 star Classic for all the family.
