I bought this to replace my battered old remote and I am very pleased with it. Works fine and was a good price too. I'd recommend it if you are thinking of doing the same.

This is the Planet of the Apes film I always wanted to see. It was pitched just right and not overdone with real looking apes, at last!

4.0 out of 5 stars Space Oddity, 11 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Watching this I feel it is something of an atypical Hartnell story. There is none of the fun of earlier stories and he is less of an irascible grand father than someone out of step with the direction of the programme. He seems out of character and doesn't have a great deal to do. You could see why it was time to go. Having said that the original Cybermen are a revelation and genuinely creepy, so that's quite interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Good Things...., 11 Nov. 2013

I love Fringe. It's pretty unique in that in all the weird stuff you grow to love the characters. I can't praise John Noble enough. This is stupid sci fi remember, but he has the power to make you laugh or cry. He is the very human heart at the centre of it all. I'm watching this slowly, and I'll miss it when it's gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Buy, 11 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My first Blu Ray player and what an absolute beauty it is too. You could pay a great deal more money. But to be honest I find it hard to believe that they'd be any better than this one. I don't care about all the expensive features, and who wants 3d and all that nonsense? I just want to watch my DVD's, and this does a superb job. The picture quality is stunning and a joy to watch, and to use a technical term, the upscaling on ordinary DVD's is well worth it. Buy this player. It's a win, win situation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful, 11 Nov. 2013

Ummm....... What can you say about a little box really? There's nothing different about it, which is a good thing. Picture quality is just the same if it's routed from a PVR or a Blu Ray player and that's what you want. There is no difference in quality. Somebody commented on the little blue light though, and that's a bit bright and disconcerting, but at least it didn't frighten the dog. You can switch it off, and if you're at all northern you don't have both switched on at the same time anyway. As for the switching between devices, who can say. There is no indication as to which device it's switched too and no instructions. So, just keep pressing the button until it works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet to Fly, 11 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Continuum - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Hooray! A series that isn't afraid to admit it is set in Canada. It's a pretty bog standard story in actual fact with standard characters. It's been done before. Or something very like it. Having said that it's done with enough style to make it very watchable. It's already got the germ of an idea, and of course it's very relevant and strikes a chord, but it has the potential to become very interesting. I'm looking forward to the next series to see where it goes now.

3.0 out of 5 stars My Word, 11 Nov. 2013

I feel a bit ambivalent about this collection of stories. On the one hand Conan Doyle had some remarkable and modern ideas. But oh my word, it's morality isn't for the faint hearted. I would tentatively suggest that Challenger probably isn't a character that modern readers would necessarily warm too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Icy Reception for Animation, 11 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Ice Warriors is a bit of a curiosity. A pot boiler I think is the term. There is a lot to admire, but it's often let down by poor production values and to be honest the animation is appalling. It isn't everyone's cup of tea and they never seem to get it right. This is perhaps too simplistic and two dimensional. Probably on a par with Noggin the Nog. But as always the episodes themselves are well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Fresh, 11 Nov. 2013

It's been such a long time since I saw this. It is a classic of its kind and doesn't really age. Okay, I could have done with more character and the romance doesn't really convince, but that's the modern me speaking. Watch it for what it is and it's ground breaking and still looks good.
