As long as you apply the screen carefully - which you have to do with all of them - you get a great, clear finish to your screen which, unlike some less rigid protectors, doesn't lift at the edges. haven't dropped te phone yet so i don't know how well it protects the screen from damage, but impressed so far.

At first i thought this would be a straightforward spy/chase thriller. But like all the best thrillers this is really a novel about what happens to people at the most intense moment of their lives. Hoffman, SS officer, opponent of Hitler, embarks on a journey through the nightmarish shadow land of collapsing Nazi Germany. But who trusts him now, and who can he trust. This is a tense and tautly constructed story which combines the excitement and fear of the chase with brilliant insight into characters of people under huge pressure. None of them is exactly good or bad, all of them desperately trying to keep their footing in a world without certainties. And this Germany is acutely observed. You smell the country and the fear as Hoffman tries to put right the things he can before it's too late, and others make their decisions too, involving brutal torture, cynical betrayals and flashes of calm heroism. What's left with when the adrenalin has subsided is the uncomfortable thought that in terrible situations ordinary people behave terribly. This novel is hard to put down and harder to forget.

This is certainly one of the best novels I have read, possibly the very best. It draws the reader in to to a story of quiet intensity, beautifully explored, infinitely sad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, 29 Mar. 2012
Just finished this riveting (literally!) book. I found the tale of Edwardian commercial confidence & industrial excellence compulsive, & not only because of the disaster that followed. It just reads like a good novel. Didn't see the tv series, but don't need to now. I can't believe it would tell the story better. I'm still trying to visualise 5 tons of horsehair! Will certainly return to the book.
