5.0 out of 5 stars Spibelt Running Belt/Pouch, 4 Nov. 2012
Received this belt as a gift and have used it numerous times for training runs upto and including a half marathon.

Its easily adjustable to fit around your waist and the items that ive kept in it ( keys, credit cards, gels) have all been secure, do not bounce or jiggle about within the belt.

Most importantly, you honestly do not know you are wearing it, the fit is perfect and the belt is so lightweight; its ideal for using when running or taking on holiday.

I note Spibelt also so do a water resistant version of the belt/pouch, if I had to get another then this for me will be the one to purchase next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Garmin Forerunner 110, 3 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased the watch back in February 2012 and have used it on approximately 60+ runs this year with the furthest run being the Roal Parks Half Marathon at the beginning of October 2012.

My needs were simple, I wanted a GPS watch that would measure distance run and minutes per mile and was (for a GPS watch) relatively inexpensive. I didn't want an all singing all dancing watch with features I woudnt want or more to the point use.

Pro's
On paper the 110 fitted the bill perfectly, out the box the watch is a 'normal' watch size and the strap is perfect for those with small wrists and is comfortable to wear.

The display is very clear and the mile beep indicator is loud enough to hear whilst out and about.

The functions are simple, but as with most tech items it pays to read the instructions (full instructions are via Garmins website).

GPS is very accurate and consistantly measures the same route with the same distance.

Ability to upload data to Garmins website is very simple, and the Garminconnect site is very detailed in the data its exported; it will show you the mile splits, calories used, your route with a satellite map of the route run - you are also able to export the data to spreadsheet if you so desire.

Cons
The GPS signal can take an age, (upto 5 mins ) to lock onto the signal. Now whether this is a case of Garmin producing a 'cheap' GPS watch and so not using the best technology in this watch I wouldnt know, but it is frustrating epecially when I do not live in a built up area (Hove/Brighton). I often run in Canary Wharf and it will have issues with the tall buildings inthe area. However, once its has locked then I've rarely experienced any problems with signal being dropped, this has included running in New York and Boston.

The charging unit is a poor design, you are never convinced whether its properly charging or not and the display in this regard is unclear to. This has been addressed with the release of the FR10 which clasps the whole watch securely; we have just bought this version today for my girlfriend and it has the same features just a tad cheaper and smaller face.

Not a con as such, but its a shame that it doesnt have a nightmode option, ie when if you press a function button in the dark the backlight could automatically come on; that said it is a one touch button to turn on but distracting to do when running.

Overall
From my experience I have no hesitation in recommending the watch, other than the time to lock onto the satellite its been faultless and continues to meet my requirements.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Received this and immediately was surprised at how big the package was - all became clear when unpacking the mill; as noted in all previous reviews the size of this is frankly ridiculous, especially given how small the containers are which hold the salt and pepper.

More annoyingly, the mill requires 4 AA batteries (not included!!!!!!).

I cannot actually comment on the performance of the mill as all of the above was enough to put me off even considering using it at the dinner table.

This has been consigned to the box for the forthcoming car boot sale we'll be having.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I was born at the begining of the 70's and wanted to understand what it had been like for my parents living in such a bleak period of the UK's history.

State of Emergency is the third volume of a series on the post-war era from 1957.
The book details the rise and fall of the Heath government, including accounts of the successful negotiations to enter the EEC, the three day week, the oil crisis and the 1972 and 1974 miners' strikes.

It is based on research that has extracted political memoirs, economic and social data, contemporary newspaper reports and novels. It also explores the social history of the time as well as the inovations and culture.

This appears to be a detailed and well researched study of a period of time.

David Attenborough Life On Air: Memoirs Of A Broadcaster (BBC Audio)
David Attenborough Life On Air: Memoirs Of A Broadcaster (BBC Audio)

Edition: Audio CD
Price: £28.00

5.0 out of 5 stars David Attenborough: Life on Air - Audio CD, 17 July 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
David Attenborough needs no introduction; he has narrated natural history programs for what seems like forever and a day. Life On Air is his autobiography, and this audio CD box set contains 16 CD's which tells his story of how he first started in broadcasting through to effectively present day.

This is great for lazy Sunday afternoon listening, Attenborough's easy style is required listening and it makes a change to hear him talking about something other than plants and animals!

A shame that the accompanying CD sleeve does not provide more comprehensive information, however, if you wanted a detailed read, I guess you can always buy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wheeler Dealers Collection, 19 Oct. 2010
Wheeler Dealers is a TV series aired on the Discovery Channel, where presenter Mike Brewer, who has 38 years experience in the industry, and mechanic Edd China buy and restore classic cars with the aim of selling the car(s) on for an overall profit.

This DVD set includes all of series 1, plus 1 from series 2 (MGB)and series 6 (Beetle) and includes the restoration of the following classic cars:

VW Golf GTI
Porsche 924
Mercedes 230E
Ford Capri
Austin Mini
Saab 900
MGB GT
VW Beetle

Each episode starts off with Brewer searching for their chosen vehicle, negotiating a sale a within their set budget and delivering it to the put-upon China to complete a full mechanical/bodywork restoration in one week.

The next part of each programme has China going over the vehicle, completing the necessary work to bring it up to to almost concorse condition. I myself have no mechanical knowledge whatsoever, however, China's presenting style is clear, interesting and detailed. Occasionally Brewer will have to source spares/replacements where they are beyond repair.

Both presenters have a love for what they do and their enthusiasm is clear to see and enjoy throughout - this is a recommended DVD.

Each episode starts off with Brewer searching for their chosen vehicle, negotiating a sale a within their set budget and delivering it to the put-upon China to complete a full mechanical/bodywork restoration in one week.

Perhaps for the next DVD release, the studio could add some extra's, for example, include some behind the scenes footage, interviews with the presenters, how they decide the shortlist of the cars being restored etc.

Brabantia Ironing Board Hanger and Iron Store - Black
Brabantia Ironing Board Hanger and Iron Store - Black
Price: £14.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Brabantia Iron Store, 3 Oct. 2010
Purchased the iron store which is used to store a Philips GC3600 series iron (this is a fairly big/heavy iron) and a Brabantia Ironing Table (124x38cm/22mm).

The product comes supplied with the necessary screws and raw plugs to attach to a wall/door and is simple to fit.

The hooks underneath the iron store allow a board to be hung, although we've fitted it so that the ironing board's feet actually rest on the floor of our cupboard, not so much a reflection of any perceived weakness in the product, just a restriction of space where it's stored.

The heat resistant pad is also suitable for safely storing a hot iron after ironing.

Only negative comment to make is that the cord management system fails to fully secure the irons cord, which is fairly long, hence the four stars awarded.

That said, it is a recommended purchase, espcially as it comes with a 2 year gaurantee too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brabantia Luberon Blue Ironing Table 124x38cm/22mm, 3 Oct. 2010
Now, I'm sure Ironing Boards are not exactly top of everyone's list to purchase, let alone review, however, given that (in our household at least) it is used every other day, then a replacement for our cheap and cheerful board was long overdue.

This board is very well made, sturdy, but is heavier as a consequence; those of an older age or perhaps who are physically challenged could find it difficult to use regularly, however, because the build quality is very good it does make ironing that much easier.

Also, being a Brabantia board, then their replacement covers will fit perfectly.

A four star review rather than five, as I'd expected a board with a RRP of £78.71 to have a much better iron rest than this one has; it seems cheap, the iron can all too easily move about on it and doesn't inspire confidence that it'll stay in the rest if you have to move board even slightly.

That said, with the discounted price Amazon offer, this a recommended purchase.
