2.0 out of 5 stars Bleak, 24 Jan. 2016
This review is from: A Whole Life (Paperback)
I found this book difficult to like . In parts it's quite grim bordering on bleak. For this character life is tough. Everything from the elements to his personal relationships leave a deep mark and shadow over his life. I didn't come away uplifted...just vaguely melancholy much like the overall tone of this book

A lovely Album with a nod to Erasure at their very best. This maybe the album that reminds people of what a class act they are. Listen and you'll be surprised just how relevant their music is in today's pop world

Perhaps one of the weakest collection of songs of the Belinda Carlisle canon. Although strangely it has a couple of her strongest singles 'In Too Deep' & 'Always Breaking My Heart'...The rest of the collection sways wildly from interesting 'California', 'A Woman and a Man' to bland, 'Remember September' to simply awful 'Love Does'nt Live Here'. The re-package with the addittional covers makes it essential to fans - just.

5.0 out of 5 stars Debut of the Year !, 22 Sept. 2014
This review is from: The Balcony (Audio CD)
Really hard to fault this album. Exciting and Energetic debut which fizzes with the same energy and passion as early Sterephonics albums. Will be interesting if they translate the passion into their Live performances. Give this album a go. A 2014 highlight!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ticks All The Boxes, 29 Aug. 2014

One of the strongest and more accessible of TheGaslight Anthems to date. It's puzzling then that the press have been largely indifferent to the albums release. Even hostile. Despite assurances from the band on a change of direction (a new sound?) the band stick rigidly to a tried and tested formula. Is this where the indifference stems from?

If you're a fan though there is much to enjoy. At least 4 Radio Friendly tracks and a couple nodding back to The 59 Sound days....Highlights 'Ain't that a shame' & Underneath The Ground' do hint at that promised new sound. Just a shame we might have to wait another 2 years to hear the new direction take flight...A false dawn this time round

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, 21 Feb. 2014

A new music release from Cher is probably not high on everybody's priority list. Given the period of time before this and the last full cd release I would guess it's not a priority for Cher either. Anyhow, here it is and it's better than expected. Nobody should be fooled that it's nothing more than a companion piece to a (I suspect) gloriously OTT live show. The first 6 tracks are heaven sent for Cher to perform on stage with a gaggle of dancers gyrating furiously behind her ...and that's a shame because it's the slower numbers that deserve the attention. Sirens (the 3rd uk single) stands out from the glut of campy tracks (campy in this context is good) and certainly warranted some investment/ push from the Record Company. An Essential Cher Cd ? Maybe not....but it's good fun. I've got a niggling feeling though what this CD may lack in depth, the Tour will more than make up
