5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 9 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Two Asian Kitchens (Hardcover)
For anyone that watched season 2 of Australian Masterchef you will know that Adam won and as a result has written this brilliant book.

If you have an interest in asian cooking then this is a good book to try out, the first part of the book gives you some recipes for pantry staples, stocks, pastes etc then onto some techniques to help you with sushi & dumplings etc. The two kitchens in the title are the "old kitchen" and "new kitchen", preety self explanitory really. The old kitchen explores some classic dishes from Adam's diverse background, and the new kitchen are more modern dishes that take inspiration from classic flavours.

A lot of the ingredients are obviously asain staples, so nearly all of the recipes will need either a trip to an asian supermarket, or a very well stocked supermarket (i would say a specialised asain supermarket would be the best bet though), but i think that makes it a bit more of an event! I love shopping for ingredients and this book gives me a reason to try out some stuff i've not before.

The recipes are well written and easy to follow which i think is essential when you're trying something new. Give it a go!

4.0 out of 5 stars good book!, 6 Jan. 2006
the only reason i didin't give it 5stars is because it's a maths book, and i don't like maths!
on the good side though the book explains everything to you in easy to understand ways that make you feel like oding that bit more. i can easily work through sections and not realise that a few hours have passed.
i reccommend it to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than ordinary!, 6 Jan. 2006
This review is from: Brassbound (Audio CD)
When I first listened to the Ordinary Boys I thought they were a bit special, (none of my friends had heard of them for a start), it was as if they were my little secret but if they keep on making albums as good as this then everyone will want in on the action!
The best song has got to be "boys will be boys" but it is hard to pick from an album of greats.
Get the album now before everyone else, and with Preston in celebrity big brother the secret will be out soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars What more could you ask for?, 15 April 2005
This review is from: Vehicles & Animals (Audio CD)
Fantastic. Captivating. Fun.
Just a few words that spring to mind that easily sum up the best debut album I have heard since Parachutes. With tunes like "El Salvador", "You got the style" and "Westside" that you can't help but tap your feet to, this has got to be a must in anyone's collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars The next big thing?, 15 April 2005
This review is from: Athlete: Tourist (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Athlete by a friend who couldn't stop telling me how good they are, and boy was he right! "Tourist" is a great follow up to debut "Vehicles and Animals" and I would easily put them in the same league as Coldplay. A fantastic band I just can't stop listening to them.
