Easy to read account of life at sea in the fishing industry, during the last century. Of particular interest to me, as anecdotes relating to my grandfather, Russian Alex, were included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia, 2 Feb. 2009
I bought this as a Christmas gift. Having glanced through it I gave it with the proviso that I wanted to borrow it back. Excellent nostalgic material for baby boomers and an insight into life in the fifties and sixties for their children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life at sea on trawlers, 2 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Arctic Apprentice (Paperback)
Very easily read book. I was particularly interested as my late grandfather had been a trawler skipper sailing out of Hull. The account of life on board a trawler and while on shore leave, painted a vivid picture. I was there with the author! Would recommend this to anyone with an interest in the fishing industry, or for an insight into life within the fishing community in the fifties.
