Worry Dolls mixes voodoo with the slasher genre in a crime thriller where the spirit of a brutal serial killer, gunned down by cops, lives on in the form of evil dolls which possess people to commit random acts of violence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eye Candy, 2 Feb. 2016

Seven lively backpackers travel to the Peruvian Amazon, where they learn about the Tunche - a primeval spirit whose shrill whistle is an omen of impending death. The lush, exotic idyll becomes oppressive after sundown, and the doomed delinquents begin to wonder whether the Tunche is more than a creepy campfire yarn. Is there something nasty in the jungle - and if so, did sweet-natured Lucero and her rowdy friends bring it with them? Screenwriter Vanessa Saba cameos as Lucero's tragic mother, whose own story unfolds as the film descends further into a Mario Bava style bloodbath. Director Frank Perez-Garland brings something new to the teens-in-peril genre, nodding to the classics while keeping us wondering whether the evil has come from within.

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally gross, 23 Jun. 2013
This review is from: Bad Meat [DVD] (DVD)
Okay, so the ending doesn't quite work, but this film is really sick and perverse. I found myself looking away from the screen or covering my eyes. It's a similar story to Cabin Fever, about a group of teens who contract a virus, but its actually much better than Cabin Fever, at least in terms of gross out. Definately a great date movie, if you;re a bit of a perve.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A must for any horror fan, particularly those interested in contemporary British horror films. URBAN TERRORS gives an incredibly informative insight into a decade of genre film-making in the UK from DARKLANDS in 1997 to MUM AND DAD in 2007.

4.0 out of 5 stars Straight from the streets bullet fest., 27 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Ghett'a Life (DVD) (DVD)
The view this movie gives us of a violent Kingston, Jamaica, left by politicians and the police to be run by gangsters, rings true. It is the framework for a story of a young man trying to fight his way out of poverty as a boxer and being impeded by criminals blackmailing him into throwing fights.

London Falling (James Quill 1)
London Falling (James Quill 1)
by Paul Cornell
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, 17 Jan. 2013
I thought it was an original great concept and I particularly liked the characters especially
the Witch of Westham which was great.
I found the first half a difficult as there was so much going on, a lot of characters with good story lines but I felt it was hard to take them further and their stories sort of get lost in the mist as I said there were many different subplots going on. I got a lot more interested when Lisa had a connection and towards the middle of the book things start to come together and it gets a lot more interesting. I could truly envision this as an epic TV series and would be great to see mass crowds in London chasing a which. It was a good and fun to read as I like urban tales but I still felt that some story structure needed to tighten it a bit more.
