1.0 out of 5 stars Gameplay is actually good though big improvement on last edition and still miles ..., 28 Sept. 2015
1 Star not due to licenses as I have played every PES game since its ISS Pro days and incorrect names and no team badges does not bother me, 1 star due to the total lack of summer transfer window roster updates for example Memphis Depay and Danny Ings were signed by Man Utd and Liverpool before the last premier league season ended and they are not in the line ups, a brief sweep through the other teams and nothing seems updated from last years rosters.
Game developers take note if you release a game half finished don't charge people £40+
1 star due to the total lack of effort with kit replicas example being Arsenal in orange, Chelsea and Everton in bright Yellow, Liverpool in black.
Gameplay is actually good though big improvement on last edition and still miles ahead of Fifa so wont go into details regarding those.
To summarise unless you are happy to do work such at least getting the colours of the kits right and updating the team rosters which the devs should have done in the first place don't buy it, get Fifa which this year is a very good game.
I expect patches will fix the roster issues but I am not waiting that long as it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs some improvment and content expansion, 25 Aug. 2009
having been a fan of the total war series ever since i bought medieval 1 i havent been able to pull away since and have eagerly awaited new games from the total war series.

empire was the one i always wanted them to do musket era and naval battles, i even bought imperial glory to see what they are like good idea but a pants game overall.

first about this i was unhappy that i had to have internet access (what about people who dont eh?)

steam is actualy quite good get the games without cloggin shelf space with boxes or having to go down the shops, i see a lot over overweight gamers in the future:P.

at first there are a lot of glitches and crashes but i would say that is probable your system i had the same problems then got my upgrade and no problems since, get it patched imediatley aswell once installed and buy the special unit add on £2 for 10 new units isnt all bad, hopefully they release more
the AI on the vanila game is very poor i recomend downloading darth mod for empire t almost triples the size of the units to 400men strong for line infantry and has a lot of little ai tweeks that improve the game.

the naval battles are fun but few and far between for massive battles unless its pirates your fighting.
the new trade theatres is a good idea too but i wish you could conquer the land that was there:(
would also be nice to play as the native indians aswell.

also i would like them to add a system were you colonise areas build new settlements etc...

the non general characters are interesting, gentlemen for researching and stealing research along with the duels which the cutscenes are amusing.
and rakes for assasinatiing bad guys.
priests are still there but not as majorly important i never use them and havent suffered.

american revolution is good somthing i have always wanted to do fight it how i would have fought the americans and put it down ruthlesly:P sorry america:)

overall i would recomend this game but patch it up and download the darth mod improves AI and unit sizes along with a few other bits and pieces.

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better, 16 Jun. 2009
BUG RIDDEN AT THE START PATCH IMMEDIATLEY

first thing beautiful graphics and sounds amazing, i dont have the greatest pc in the world but i play it on middle settings and they are still amazing.

compared to the first shadow of chernobyl there is bit more in the faction wars is a nice touch but realy needs a bit of brushing up (would have been nice to have more conrol over faction squad movements etc... there is a mod for this however)

story line is not as good as the original however but maybe because i played the original and my expectations were too high.

upgradable weapons and gear is great but only bother upgrading decent weapons and if you get the L85 change its ammo to the ak ammo i found its reliability and accuracy improved massivley

mutants are still there though not as many of them around now same ones but none roaming free evrywere.

the starting area is great all youve got are basic weapons sawn off, crappy pistol and if yer lucky maybe the short ak and mp5 this seems to be the best zone to do faction war but it ends way too quickly:(

could say alot more but my fingers would start to bleed
buy this game its fun it looks great hopefully they bring a new one out with yet more in it:)

some cool mods for it too

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Expansion Ever, 27 July 2007
they have outdone themselves this time, being an avid fan of all the CIV games this has to be the best of all of them, i mainly bought it for the additional units, techs and events, its all mostly post gunpowder which is good, it adds units from CIV 3 bac in such as paratroopers, and missile cruisers, also attack subs which are basicly Nuke Subs, the tactical nuke and cruise missiles are back aswell.
also they have added a near future line of units, mostly clones, but 2 rather nasty units also but i wont spoil the surprise.

the senarios i have only played a couple so far but they are also good, the final frontier is a nice change, along with the ability to play WW2 in europe again, was upset they didnt add that when they released CIV3.

on the technical side i have a rather old computer 3-4 years now and it plays fine, slows down in later years but i dont mind, just 1gb of ram should be fine, also played it non stop since the release and have found no bugs yet.

i would recomend this game to any CIV or turn based game fan.

RULE BRITANIA!!
